Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 12

PREVIOUSLY:

"What's wrong?" I asked nervously.

"She's dead" Tommy told me.

"WHAT? WHO?" I was terrified.

Zienna came up from the other side, and said,

"Who else?

Bianca! She's dead.

BIANCA'S POV:

I panted, in agitation of being ensnared again. As anyone could predict, the whole sitch traumatized the whole of me. I gained up my senses in view of the slight beep sounds of the medical monitors and the frequent rustle of nurses and visitors pacing up and down.

I sat up straight as I felt the mild drag, where the cannula perched on my left hand, when I tried to figure out the current scenario I was entangled in.

There were cops in their uniforms, guarding the ward I was in.

But I should get out of here. Without them noticing.

I needed to get there as soon as possible. This might be my last chance. What do I do? How? Would it be possible? No, it should be. There must be a way!

I found myself growing restless as moments passed by.

I didn't have any more time to be resting here. I got up to my feet, stumbling up, on account of the numbness of being put for a long span.

It caught the attention of the guards outside, as they advanced into the room. One of them called the appointed doctor to check on my condition.

They made me lay back down as I waited impatiently for the check up to be done for good. The appointed doctor was trying to distract me from my cold, yet anxious put, asking me some small stuffs. He must think that I was acting that way because of the impact the incident had caused me. Despite that thought being partially true, I had other things to worry about that were more salient.

I could hear mumbles from the doctor that cut me off of my zoned out state, about how I was doing, my education, family and stuff like that to enlighten my mood. I merely answered him.

After he had done with the examination, he left with his assistants which made me sigh in relief. My vitals seemed normal. I waited for them to disappear from the floor to tell the guards I needed to use the restroom, in case if I might be accompanied by one of the assistants.

Two of the guards followed me all the way until I reached the restroom. I narrowed my eyes at them when they didn't stop there.

"Excuse me," I began, hesitantly, "I can understand this is for my protection, but I would appreciate if you waited a bit farther. I don't want to gain any attention from people; I'll be back soon."

They exchanged glances with uncertainty at first, but nodded with mutual consent. The corridor on the way to the restroom wasn't that capacious, so they had to move farther towards a small counter, not to disrupt the ladies going to the restroom.

I passed in.

"Bi, are you ready? Take this. Change and get away, quick,"

She came from one of the rooms and handed over the clothes for me to change into.

And I did.

Completely changing my appearance with an expensive blue dress, a pair of sandals, a touch of makeup just so the cops wouldn't be expecting a nicely dolled up woman rather than a pale one with a hospital gown and the IV stand to walk out from the restroom; I was the contrast of what they were expecting. I know I shouldn't do this, but there's no other way left for me, as I couldn't utter a single word to a single person. I would be as good as dead if I did.

"Just walk out casually and steadily. Do not show any kind of panic while crossing them. Okay? I'll take care of the things here," She assured me when I thanked her.

Before leaving, I jabbed my fingers with the syringe on my hand from the cannula and pressed on either sides of the injury, as few drops of blood dribbled down onto the floor. I couldn't risk any of them following me behind, which might possibly happen if they get to know I've walked out on my own.

I glanced at her reassuring gesture and left. As I was told, I walked out with confidence and stability. One of the guards was standing near the counter with folded arms, while the other leaned on it, as they were conversing. They were few metres away from the entrance of the restroom, and the staircase was beside the counter.

I walked, trying not to look around their direction, but with casualty in my actions. I walked to the stairs, as I was pretending to set my dress, looking downwards.

But to my dismay, I found two more cops ascending from the stairs I was supposed to descend down to. Without a change in my posture, I climbed up to the next floor.

Fortunately, my actions didn't wake their suspicions up. I quickly moved to the elevator on the top floor and went down to the ground floor.

And I left in a cab with the money she gave me.

Fortunately!

JAYDEN'S POV:

"What happened yesterday? Did you find anything?" I asked in general to all the officers that were on duty yesterday.

"Unfortunately, no." Lan answered.

"Nothing at all?" I was mazed, "What exactly were you doing? Answer me."

"We searched for the girl around the area thoroughly; both in and out of the hospital. And we checked the footage too."

"And?"

"We couldn't find her," Their heads dropped.

"Is that all? Are you kidding me?-" Before I could take out my rage, the annoying voice interrupted me, "We did what we could. Cut it."

"You should've called me at least! What were you guys thinking?" I continued, ignoring James.

"We were instructed to do so; we didn't want to stop there as well," Robert muttered. I gave him an obscure look when he slowly tilted his head to the side where James was standing. I enraged, "You told them? How does this case concern you?"

"Calling you wouldn't have changed anything; you would've done the same thing too. It's not like I told them to rest idle," he continued, "And we didn't return empty handed; we took a look at the crime scene and have come to a conclusion. She was abducted, and now killed! That's all." James reasoned with his absurd excuses.

"Yeah? Did you speak with the guards who reported her missing? And how exactly did you search for her? By asking around for a girl in a hospital suit? Oh, and you say you didn't trace the guy, nor his vehicle; and how is that you're stating she was abducted and that it was a guy?" I bombarded.

When no one answered, I continued, "My team will only follow my orders as the team superior, and no one else's. Are we clear?"

They nodded, when my phone rang, "Cole, where are you?" I asked him.

"Jay, come to the hospital. Those officers that reported, has agreed to speak with us. And we have leads in the footages too. 7th floor. Hurry up!" He notified.

I told the others about the call and they moved forward to their cars. I grabbed my coat, when I turned to the speechless James and phrased, "This is the difference."

And I left.

I streaked across the street with high speed and reached the destination. I, along with a few other cops ascended to the 7th floor as told.
