"As I said, it's because of Ethan." Anna answered feeling guilty for only telling half truth.
As she is hiding part of the truth intentionally, it is no different than lying.
"Did he treat you well or did he trouble you?" Aiden asked, referring to the old man from the Xander family. From the way he interacted with Anna, it is apparent that this is not the first time he came across her.
"So far, he never interfered directly, so I didn't get into any trouble." Anna again answered in a half truth manner.
Her grandfather never told her to do this or do that. He never dictated her life directly but in every big thing that happened in her life from the past few years, he has his hands in every one of them.
He was like a king moving his pawns to control the game which is her life.
And, that was very frustrating. Although she knows the reason and cause, she couldn't do anything to stop it.
