Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

One by one, he watches them leave him sitting on the beach. After their failed attempt to save a human, they are brazenly looking fine. But he is not. He needs to understand what happened because his brother commanded them to not tag along, only to fail himself. He creases his forehead and grimace.

His eyes wander to scan anyone coming his way. It was now sunset, people have gone to their rooms to prepare for the preparatory dinner before the gathering tomorrow. Tomorrow will be congested thus why today he should seek the answers.

He sits on the sand with the ocean drawing back and forth caressing his feet. He takes a deep inhale and let out a sigh.

"Talk to me" His statement was followed by silence. Damn it! He should have known he needed to have a bait or something alluring.

"Talk...to me" He hisses the words with a little bit of vexation.

"Or you talking to me? Humans can communicate with me now? " The voice sounded sarcastic and arrogant.

"Do I look human to you? Let's cut to the chase, I need information" His face was grim, he had to be grim for this foolish water spirit to talk to him.

"What it's in it for me?" The voice asked calmly

He frowns, he should have known that the spirit water would play hide and seek with him.

"You get to live another day" He throws an ultimatum.

"Okay..." The voice burst soft wicked chuckles. "You bad at negotiations, you sound more of a Dark warrior than a peacekeeper. Are you sure that Utah fathered you?" The ocean water goes aloft forming a bubble shape and moving close to him. "No one comes to my territory and threat..."

Sydney closes his eyes and the ocean went still quiet. The waves stopped. Everything became still, the place became hallow, the voices from the hotel beach echoed across the vast shore. He took a deep breath and gaze at the still waters with calm eyes.

He thinks to himself that he is going to end up in trouble for this outrageous stunt he just pulled. Nothing can live or move on still waters besides monsters that lurk in the dark.

A human figure starts emerging on the shore floating near the waters by Sydney's feet. It looked as if life was sapping out of the human figure that suddenly appeared.

"You ready to talk?" He asks gazing at the human figure without emotion. No voice or word was uttered, the body just winced.

The ocean started flowing again and violent waves emerged heading in their direction.

"It seems you have forgotten your place Spirit" He just gestured and the waves collapsed abruptly next to them. The human figure coughed a little bit of blood. That gesture had left an impact on it.

"It doesn't have to hurt, you just give me what I want" He pierces the gaze of the pale figure lying on the sand. The figure coughs and spits blood.

"I rather die, I won't betray myself for a little immature Prince who doesn't respect spirits. A prince who is here on Earth but not in his Royal country. It is sad to say this, but you are pathetic royal house, hypocrites. Pretending to be peaceful but inside you rage with anger, or else why would you go to the lengths of hurting a spirit, a woman in particular. Do you know who I am?" The slim woman figure scoff at Sydney.

Sydney snickers at the woman in astonishment. She has a lot to say for a person who almost lost their life.

"The question you should is who are you?" A voice echoed behind him.

Sydney turns startled by the voice and to meet his brother Peace.

"What are you doing here?" He stutters.

"I knew you would not let it go and I was curious by the sudden stillness and violence that I felt coming from the beach" Peace stare at Sydney with an intense grim gaze.

He then averts his gaze to the lying figure on the sand who unexpectedly burst painful chuckles.

"Why did you kill her?" Peace interrogate the woman spirit without setting sight her direction, he gazed at the ocean.

"Why do you care? Business is business, whether be it good or bad business as long I benefit from it" She smirked pushing her aching body into an upright position.

"Oh...that's interesting, you are so shameless for a person who lives on borrowed time" Sydney scoffs

"What the benefit worth her life?" Peace asks with a painful voice cracking with emotions. Sydney glances up at him, his brother is hurt. He is an empathetic person, but this feel like a personal matter to him.

"Freedom" She grins "From the royal family" her smile fades and anger appears in her eyes.

"Who granted you this freedom?" Peace is oozing with rage. Sydney could feel that peace was longer with him, another him had swooped in.

"The head manager. These humans...some are too intelligent, that's when you know that they are hiding behind the skin. To think the Queen ran away with her children to hide, but the rebellion has followed her. All eyes are on you, the rebellion will take over. Word says you are too weak and it's true..." she giggles viciously.

She glances at them to only see their pitiful and sorrowful faces. They look pathetic, she chose wisely.

"Look at you, falling for a human. The day, he saw that he knew how to get to the great and disciplined Peace. And it worked!" She laughs loudly feeling pleased with herself.

Now she knows she will live, for a minute she thought Peace was going to finish off because she knew that Sydney does not have it in him to kill.

"So it happened because of me?" Peace's eyes fill up with tears.

"Well...at least she died thinking she was choosing to. May her soul rest in peace. Her sacrifice will forever be honoured by the rebellion" She stands up reading herself to depart.

"Your betray has brought light to my misery..." Peace gets chipped in by the lady.

"Oh no, I remember her saying...something like...Why live when you don't have a purpose? So you can find your purpose? Those words ignited me and I had to make sure she dies quickly and peaceful. I save her from her misery, her heartbreak. Be glad, consider this a favour" She starts stepping into the water with her feet disappearing as she walks in. "Toodles!" She rise her hand gesturing a wave without looking back.

"Malik" Peace whispers the name and a sudden wave gush their way but collapses and a tall and slim man appear.

The lady glances at the man with shock and she opens her mouth to utter something. Her body falls into the water splashing her body into a big visible green circle of water next to the man. The man swallowed hard and trembled a bit. He sure has to serve and don't betray the royal family.

"She talks too much" Sydney relieve his annoyance and raise to his feet.

"Tell me about it. Every minute I just wanted to kill her" A man appears from the dark shadows with a dark silhouette falling behind him. Sydney stared at him startled.

"Is there another person here besides us?" Sydney whispers the words with his eyes strolling around.

"Just us" Peace heaves a sigh. He opens the palm of his hand and a flower appear on his hand. "She loved lilies" He place the lily on the water. "May your soul rest in peace" He watches the flower float.

Everyone stands there gazing at the floating flower.

"Is that it? No confession?" The man enquires with his husky voice with curiosity because he could sense the feelings burning inside Peace. They glance at him startled.

"Uncle..." They speak unanimously.

He starts walking leaving them astonished by his question. He disappears in a distance. They turn back and glance at each then Malik who was still standing in front of them with the utmost respect.

"You can leave. Take care of the ocean" Peace instructs him and Malik bow his head and depart turning into one with the water.

"What a long day? Let's go back to the hotel" Peace taps on Sydney's shoulder and they start walking.

"Did you get closure?" Sydney asks sincerely concerned about his brother.

"Yes...I will be accepting of her unfortunate death in due time" Peace heaves a sigh and purse his lips.

Three figures appear with their gaze immense on Peace and Sydney.

"I knew this day will arrive. This gathering is happening at the most crucial moment"

They nod in accord and turn to walk in a different direction than Peace and Sydney.
