I hummed as the door opens and Xavier comes in with a backpack. "Hey, sis." He said as he closed the door behind him.
"Hey, kiddo." Onyx and I spoke.
He lit up seeing Onyx. "Hey, Onyx it's nice to see you again."
He smiled back. "You to kiddo." He said with a smile as I tilt my head as I felt pressure in my head as my dragon spoke.
Don't get too angry the body will slowly form until he is old enough. She chuckled. My jaw worked as I fought back a yell.
What do you mean by that? I hissed at her.
Oh, look at you and Logan you were considered a child when the bond clicked into place for him. My eye twitched and I wanted to hiss as I looked at Xavier.
"Xavier, Mother sent this with Father for you to get a snack before homework," I said handing him the money.
"Okay, I will be right back." He said and I got up as he left the room and I stocked toward Onyx who was backing away from me till his back hit the wall.
"How long have you known?" I asked as we have been here a week.
"When we were leaving the north and he and I got to talking the bond started forming for some reason." He said softly fear filled his eyes as I sighed.
"Witch bonds, unlike Vampires, snap into place at first meeting." I hissed and glared at him. "Be glad we are in a nest room or I would have smack you got not tell Mother and me Onyx." I snapped at him.
"I am sorry I thought I was losing my mind." He said softly.
"I would tell you to get out but uncle would have my head." I snarled at him.
"I am sorry Princess." He said softly.
"I suggest you read up on Witches Onyx because your boing to have your hands full with my parents and me," I tell him moving back from him as I walked back over to James and sat back on the Nest. I froze as a shadow moved. "Now what do we have here?" I asked reaching out to touch it but it moved back from me. "Oh, now little one don't be scared I am not going to hurt you," I tell it softly. I hummed softly as the shadow moved its head looked at James then leaned over and pressed into my hand and I gasped this was James' shadow his powers were manifesting. "I know it is freaky to see yourself like this little one but I promise you are okay," I said softly. "I am not new cousin Diana and your new Dad would be here if these darn meetings between the leaders were not so important.
I looked up as Xavier came back in and he looked at the shadow. "What that?" He asked,
"This is James' shadow," I tell him.
"Oh cool." He said coming over and sat on the nest with a bag of chips.
I tilted my head he could not quite speak but I could feel his confusion and fear. "It's okay James you're going to be fine I know you don't remember what happened but you were hurt really back. The only way we could save you was to turn you into a vampire." I felt his fear spick and a deep sense of loneliness that made tears well in my eyes. "No Kiddo you will not be alone again your new Father will be here soon just you wait he's been so excited to see you up and awake and talking." A sense of loss came over him and an overwhelming sense of something. I leaned back thought about it and then sighed. "My birth father was killed too before I was turned," I said and the shadow looks up at me. "But you want to know that I think? I think both your parents and my Daddy will be very happy that we have someone to look after us and love us like their own." I said softly patting the shadow's head.
"You can understand the shadow?" Onyx asked.
"It's more feeling than words but it makes sense he would worry that he would think that his parents would think that he didn't love them anymore. For a while thereafter I got my memories back that is how I felt. It's also how Loren felt for many years." I explained to him.
"Mom says your Dad would have been very happy even if he was alive that you were cared for," Xavier said and the shadow looked at him and then nodded then the fear was back.
"What scares you?" I asked softly and he looked at me his shadow started losing its shape. "Rest James we are not going anywhere," I tell him softly patting his head, and the shadow sinks into my lap and I just lightly run my fingers along his shadow. "Homework Xavier then we will read," I tell him as I call my own shadow. "Tell my uncle that Jame's powers have manifested." I sent my shadow to him.
"Hopefully my king does not try to leave," Onyx said with a sigh.
"Father will stop him from leaving. Besides he should know that it will take him at least 24 hours from now before he wakes up."
"I bet the hospital staff will be happy to get used out of their hair," Onyx said and I snorted. It had been an interesting week that was for sure. Thankfully Dr. Luca and Caretaker Lily were very understanding when my uncle would hiss at them.
"I am sure." I agreed with him and I looked at the clock.
"What is it?" Xavier asked.
"The Healer is normally like clockwork he should have checked in 10 minutes ago," I said and hummed.
"He could be in surgery," Onyx said.
"True." I agreed as a knock came on the door but it did not open and I nodded at Onyx.
"Can I help you?" He asked as a caretaker stood in front of him.
"I am so sorry to come here I know we are not supposed to but we have an emergency a gunman has started shooting in the er we can not get the kids out of here since he would see them." The Male caretaker said and Onyx looked at me and I growled as I looked at my shadow.
"Get ever free guard here now." I snap at it as I looked at the shadow who looked up at me and I closed my eyes as I reached out with my power calling forth all the shadows I can. "I will make it to where they will not be able to leave the ER but I can not do much in the way of helping in there I can go deal with them but I cannot leave here." I hissed as the shadows covered the door and I saw kids in then and cursed."Damn it there are kids in there." I all but jumped when someone's hand grabbed my arm. My eyes snapped open and I looked down at James who's half read half black eyes looking into mine.
"Help kids." He barely spoke.
"Kid you just did something no one else ever has but okay I will be back in a few minutes but you need to go back to sleep when your heart stops it's going to hurt.
"Help kids." He said again.
"Alright just rest," I said moving his shadow from my lap to Xaviers. "Xavier."
"I will stay and protect James." He nods and I smiled as I get up and drop into the shadows I use the shadows to count the number of hostels and then I also felt the shadow of a certain police caption. I sighed and dragged him to me.
"Fucking hell!" He said pointing his gun at me.
"Do you have shackles or am I killing these guys?" I asked him.
"How many are there?" He asked.
"8." I answered.
"I would rather take them alive." He said.
"Okay. You have shakes?" I asked him
"I have handcuffs." He answered and I reached out of the shadow of the one gunmen's shadow and yanked him down into it with all my force. The male dropped his weapon and screamed as I did so.
"You're under arrest." He tells him and we continued to do this and we were fine until the last one grabbed a kid and put the weapon to her head and I didn't even stop to ask as the captain cursed and I silently came up out of his shadow as he screamed and he stopped the minute I put my knife to his throat and I spoke.
"Let the little girl go and I might not kill you," I tell him my voice cold.
"You're a cop you wouldn't kill me." He huffs.
"No I am a vampire knight and you are trying to harm a child that by the laws I took an oath to uphold says I can kill you if you hurt that child." I hissed at him and he stiffened and pushed the girl away and dropped the gun and I pulled the others out of the shadows and the captain sighed as he got the other guy in the cuff.
"You know I am going to miss your help when you return to your lands." He huffed I bowed to him and then finished back to James who was still awake.
"You need to sleep," I tell him softly as I sat by his side.
"Kids." He said.
"Safe I handled if cousin now sleep." I tell him.
