Chapter 13 - Shut the f*ck up: Grey

Grey's POV

***

I woke up to the grinding headache I always have after drinking, one would think I've gotten used to these pains but that's on the contrary.

The headache seems to intensify as time goes on maybe because I'm trying too hard to keep Ash under control.

I was still in the club where I had blacked out. I reached for my phone in my pocket and took it out to check what time it is.

"10 Am, " I read out loud while muttering a few curse words.

It's no wonder the club is silent no one comes to a club in the morning except they own it, or if they were me. I saw a couple of missed calls from Sheila, which made me a little worried that something might have happened to her.

I quickly dialed her number and waited for her to answer the phone. The line was about to cut off when she picked up.

"Grey?" she asked gently into the phone.

"Hey what's up Sheila I missed your call hope ya good" I countered, letting out a low grunt the pounding feeling in my head.

"Yeah, I'm fine where are you?" she asked again worry lacing her voice.

"I'm at the club, are you sure you're okay though?" I asked even though I know she's probably only worried about me because of how I had left the house yesterday after what she had told me.

"Yeah, Grey I'm fine it's just that I was worried about you, are coming home now?" she asked softly.

"Yeah, don't worry too much about me Sheila I'm fine" I assured her before ending the call.

My head was still pounding, and I started to pull the roots of my hair to try and make it stop, but that didn't work out, it only increased the pain I was feeling.

The events of yesterday also came flowing into my head, reviving the pain in my chest. I had thought things would be better after I woke up this morning, but things only seemed to be getting worse.

Usually, when I wake up after blacking out, I would be too focused on the pounding feeling in my head to remember the previous day's events, but today was different I reminisced everything that had happened yesterday. It played in my head like a cassette being played on auto replay.

I tried so hard to stop thinking about everything, to stop thinking about her, but all I could do was think about her. And I wondered if she was still at the hospital or if she had already left.

A huge part of me wanted to go see her again but the small part that fought for restraint didn't let me move from the spot I sat.

Things only kept getting worse the more I sat on that sofa trying to get her out of my head, so I stood up went to the shelf inside the room I was sitting, and grabbed a bottle of whiskey before sitting back down.

That's pretty much the summary of my life, I get drunk until I blackout, I wake up and get drunk again.

I had finished the whole bottle and was starting to feel tipsy probably because there's still a lot of alcohol left in my system. I could feel the low grunts of Ash inside my head, but I ignored it.

My personal space in the club had its sound system so I played music at a very loud volume, trying to drown out Ash's voice.

But not even the loud beats of the songs were enough to drown out the voice.

I got up, not wanting to be here anymore because the muffled voices in my head were becoming chaotic.

Usually, I only had to battle the muffled voice of Ash but today, the voice I heard was not just Ash's voice it included a new voice and it felt like a mental battle was going on in my head.

So I left the club and went into my car, not minding the tipsiness I felt from the alcohol I had just consumed.

I drove to the territory's border and parked beside the large lake, before stripping off and getting into the water. After diving in, I stayed under for a long time waiting for the voices to quiet down, before coming back up.

I was no longer feeling tipsy after staying that long inside the freezing lake water. Even though I get cold easily, I still didn't make a move to get out of the water, until I started to sneeze profusely.

I reluctantly got out of the water and put clothes back on before getting into my car. And the voice came back this time I could only hear one voice and it was not Ash's voice.

The voice was clear now just like the one I heard last night before blacking out, it repeated the words it had said last night, confusing the shit out of me.

'You know you want me, stop fighting it' the voice said, and I felt a shiver left my body from how cold it had sounded.

I wanted to ask what the voice meant but remained quiet, but then it spoke again...

'You think you could stop me by rejecting her? that's not going to stop me, boy, you should have just stayed with her.' the voice said in a low cold voice.

"No, no no this can't be happening, this can't be real," I yelled as I instantly remembered the legend they had spoken about.

I didn't completely believe the legend to be true, but I still rejected my mate just to be on a safer side.

'you better believe it boy, I'm as real as ya would never know' the same voice said again, and I felt cold sweat trickled down my face at what he said, and I wanted to do nothing right now but yell out loud.

"shut. the. fuck. up." I yelled trying my best to sound like I'm in total control...
