Chapter 5 - Chapitre 4 : Hong Xuè

They had almost reached their destination when they were attacked by a wild beast.

After feeding the baby and cleaning their tracks as best they could, they continued on their way, making their way through the brambles and the small rock that dotted their path. They had struggled as the further north they went the harder it was to find a smooth path. Despite the multitude of trees, the sun was beating strongly and the lack of water was felt. After several stops to take care of the baby, they persevered and could now make out the mountains of rock in front of them. Lost had taken the time to discover the New Life System while walking, making him forget the pains that thrown him in the legs. He was a level five immortal with some skill in cultivation and other categories that he would slowly discover over time. He had noticed that the more he walked the more he increased in dexterity and strength. He also felt his meridians and his dantian grow larger without him needing to meditate. He also had an inventory where he had already deposited his letter and relic wrapped in the tissue. He had discovered, puzzled, that this treasure was a weapon which would take the form desired by its master. She was divine and indestructible but what was unexpected was the function hidden by an exclamation mark. He couldn't remember reading any mystery feature on this weapon. He had discovered something more worrying about his status. A link with an external entity that he did not remember having trained with anyone. It was done without him knowing it and he didn't like it at all. It was when he closed his window that he heard a growl to his right. They came to a halt and their breathing became softer. Ziha held Hong Xue tightly. He was the fruit of his masters and did not intend to lose him too. She would die for him without a doubt.

"System, can you show me the map of the forest?

- I can but your level being too low, you will only see three miles around you.

-It's more than enough! Show me the danger points and activate the buzzer if this danger is too close. "

Lost wasn't one of the best players for nothing. His instincts were sharpened and his sense of great strategist awakened. He knew how to use the cards he had in hand at the right time and that of defense was one of his greatest strengths. Protecting his friends from his enemies was more his style. He saw the map displayed in front of him. Blue and transparent, it didn't bother him to make out the rest in front of him. He saw red dots inducing the enemy flashing nearby but not close enough to them to get attacked. He motioned for Ziha to continue advancing, putting himself behind her as a sign of protection and pointed to her where to go. She trusted him strangely and did as he told her. He looked confident and a calming aura surrounded him. Truly, he could be handsome on any occasion even in danger. Lost was trying to avoid a face to face encounter with a wild beast knowing full well that the animals in the game were anything but normal. The further he went, the more he saw on the map the point of arrival. He remained calm even if he had only one desire : To arrive as quickly as possible and finally to breathe with peace.

- Lost-gege ! I see the Kongde wall ! It's right there, do you see it ?

Ziha was excited and speed up eagerly, forgetting for a moment the growls they had heard previously. Lost followed her before he heard a beep in his mind indicating impending danger, and he turned quickly, stopping Ziha in her tracks. The baby was also awake looking in the direction of Lost. They all saw a wolf-like animal with yellow eyes glistening with savagery. His gray fur and muscular body showed his years of hunting well. Purple Eyes stood in front of Ziha and Hong Xue in protection mode. He was thinking about a plan to throw him away or get rid of the beast. He looked around his skills and saw that he had a pretty high affinity with water and air. The core of his cultivation was apparently very unique and seemed to be very balanced.

He closed his eyes and imagined his energy building up to his arm and then to his hands. He raised his arm towards the beast, who was taking up an attacking position, and a blue glow engulfed his hand. Ziha couldn't believe her eyes and staring at her new Shixiong with a mixed look. He had never shown that he was a cultivator since joining the sect, but in a way it was okay not to reveal his secrets to people you just met. She was just upset that he hadn't said anything to her after everything they had just gone through. A strange wind began to whirl around them like a shield and Ziha barely had time to realize that the beast already had an huge laceration on its right side. This cut was clean and precise. He lacked the intention to kill but the result was there. The beast took fright and escaped through the trees leaving a perplexed Lost. He didn't think he was that strong. He just imagined a wave of wind and this is the result.

" Sysy ! I think I'm super strong !! Did you see that ?!"

The system was silent at the ridiculous nickname for a while. The young man didn't seem to realize the silly nickname he had said and seemed more excited than anything else. It couldn't be seen on his face, but inside this boy was jumping for joy.

" It's nothing at all! Facing another cultivator, you would already be six feet underground. And don't ever call me that again or I'll boycott you.

- It's a shame I think Sysy suits you well. What a bad character! And to think I just want to be closer to you ...."

The system chocked in the face of Lost's shameless statement. This boy had his lips slightly curled up. He didn't want to appear crazy in front of Ziha who had just come to her senses. So, he restrained his teasing smile from showing on his face.

- Lost-gege ... You ... You were a cultivator?

Lost stared at her and saw several emotions in her blue pupils. Admiration, disappointment and sadness.

- I had no intention of hiding it. I was just waiting for the right moment to tell you. There could be ears hanging out in this Forest. Don't take anything wrong Shimei.

It was a lie and a truth at the same time. He himself did not know what he was hours earlier. Ziha calmed down and accepted his explanation as she trusted him.

"Partner, you rose to level eight after injuring a Blood Wolf. Your Dantian is now denser and your meridans have improved. You have unlocked the alchemist skill."

Lost hid his excitement and curiosity for the moment. It was more important to take little Hong Xue to the village. He will take the time to look at his status later. Ziha held out the child to him, her arms tired from carrying the load for too long. The baby had not made a single noise despite the fright they had all just suffered. For an infant, he was far too calm for Lost. A baby couldn't help but cry for his own good. It was during these times that a parent knew the child needed help. If he doesn't cry, they won't know when he's hungry, needs changing or worse when he's sick. Hong Xue only looked around him without flinching and it was worrying, even frightening. Holding him was certainly pleasant in the warm feeling that this child gave off but uncomfortable in the way he stared at him with that piercing red gaze. You might think Hong Xue already understood everything that was going on. He put his dark thoughts aside and took to the road again. Arrived in front of the first mountain, they looked for the sign of KongDe village. He could see that it was the wall to be crossed but without the lever they will not be able to reach the real entrance. Lost and Ziha looked for the sign to activate the mechanism for several minutes before the young woman let out a little cry of joy.

- It's there Gege! I found it !

In fact, well hidden between two cracks, a key-shaped sign was emerging in front of them. Ziha ran her finger between the two fine cracks and put a little pressure. A second later, a small click was heard and the stone wall began to shake and the two faults moved away from each other, forming an entrance. They saw a steep staircase and began to climb each step, one by one. Each step felt heavier and heavier, as if we had put weights on each ankle. This did not stop them, however, as they were determined to achieve their goal. At the end of this long staircase, paradise awaited them. So despite fatigue and obstacles, they continued tirelessly and full of hope. Lost didn't know how many stairs he had climbed but he held this strange baby tightly with caution hearing the "dings" of each point gain in dexterity and speed.

Really, thanks to Sysy, his abilities improved and the more he improved the more the climb became harder and harder. His forehead was wet and his breath hitched. He didn't let go and often looked behind him to make sure all was well on Ziha side. He would stop from time to time to wait for her and resume walking as soon as she had joined him. The young woman appreciated his gesture and smiled, happy that he treated her so well. After what seems like an eternity, they arrived at the entrance to the village. They saw the wooden sign with the name KongDe marked on it with relief and followed the small path leading them inside. What awaited them was a group of people gathering in the center of the village. There weren't a lot of young people, but mostly old people who looked very serious. The village consisted only of a few wooden houses. Each had a wooden sign with the surname of its inhabitant. There was some street food here and there and a big square with a water fountain. This was what Lost and Ziha had looked on longingly since their arrival. They did not have the courage to jump in for fear of offending the villagers. It was Hong Xuè's cute little tweets that unlocked the ice between the two newcomers and the elders. To see such a small child in this village was rare and the old villagers looked at him gently.

-If you are here, it is because you have been accepted by the Lord. Will we be able to know who we are talking to?

An old man wearing a green robe and holding a cane in his hand came up to them. He seemed to welcome them with open arms. He had acted politely. Lost figured out who he was at the first glance. There was only one man holding a cane in New Life Online. He helped Ziha to raise the toddler like a great father, taking care of him and instilling him his principle and his Martial art. He was also the first to die at the hands of Hong Xue during a Qi's deviation. It was one of the triggers that gave life to the greatest demonic cultivator. His disciple felt guilty as soon as he came to his senses. The shock had been so terrible that he grew even deeper into hatred and sadness. He went mad and subsequently sowed terror killing everyone he said was not worth living. Ziha lost all control over him and let herself die in this village bitterly regretting what she had done. This man was called Shu Wuqiong and stood in front of Lost.

- Ziha, disciple and governess of the sacred guardian sect and Lost, friend of Lord Yoon, greet you and thank you for your hospitality.

Lost formally greeted with respect after introducing himself because he knew that this man advocated ancient rites and cultures. He had to give a good image if he wanted to be accepted in this village. Ziha had greeted behind him in the same way knowing full well the rules of KongDe. She watched Lost stealthily, curious and full of questions. The young man was courteous and serious in front of Shu Wuqiong as if he too had known the old man for a long time.

- Could I know what are two young people and a baby doing in this village? It amazes me that our leader sends children to these place.

Lost understood the Elder's astonishment. After all, the only people who took refuge here just wanted to get away from the cultivation world.

- To report back to the Elders, Unfortunately, we don't have any good news for you. it would be preferable to sit comfortably.

All the people present felt that the news was not going to be good and all headed for the hall of the main residence. This place was used for important discussions and thus to exchange ideas of each one. The two young people followed the villagers waiting for the heads of each family to settle in their seats. The newcomers stood in the midst of everyone, intimidated by the gaze of these people.

- Elders, first of all I would like to introduce this child to you. He is the sole survivor of the Sacred Guardian sect and also the sole descendant of the Yoon family, Hong Xue.
