Chapter 7 - Aureil

They packed the wrangling supplies along with their shields and weapons, all of them wore their normal clothes so that no one realises what they intended to do.

They were walking through the paved path with their bags although there was no restriction for moving in Ryuijin without permission once they are out of the first gate, they have to answer.

They had planned to use walls instead of going for the gate.

Lucian hasn't rested since the carriage came and he knew that this night was going to be long one. After walking for a while they were standing in front of a large stone wall which served as the primary boundary for Ryujin. He knew it's easy for him and Lucian to climb it but he wasn't sure whether Amaya will be able to climb over gables or not.

Lucian went first and threw an anchor, which struck the ridges on the other side of the wall. He gave it a hard tug to make sure it can withstand his weight and then started climbing and once he was on top of the wall he made sure that the anchor was properly placed over the ridges.

Once they all were on the opposite side of the walls their major concern was to find a way to get beyond the second gate. They knew every day at night wagons left for the market to get fresh supplies for the next day but they had to find one and make sure no one sees them.

Aureil had been through various dangerous situation some life-threatening too but today he was feeling something which he hadn't felt ever 'FEAR'. He was not ready to rely on emotions. Emotions have always been the reason for chaos for him, he can't afford love ever.

Aureil knew if someone sees them from the tower above, they'll shoot without a second thought that was their orders and he was concerned about Amaya, his heart was pounding and he can hear the roar of blood in his ears with every sound he hears.

They rarely have been to this side of the wall and hence didn't know what was the pattern in which soldiers and guards move but currently, Aureil's eyes were searching for a carriage which they can use to get out of the Ryujin.

They were walking in the shadow of the wall to make sure they can't be seen even with the moonlight. Lucian knew the kitchen was on the northwest part of the wall which was structured along the wall. They were expecting to find a wagon there.

They hurried past the light to their surprise, they saw multiple wagons were lined one after another, there was no crowd here but from inside the kitchen, they were able to hear the noise which was an indication that they will be out in minutes. In all these days in Ryujin, they hear only noises beyond the wall and the sound of the crowd was always followed by the sound of moving wagons.

From this vantage point, their only job was to get inside one of the wagons which they somehow managed and the only thing they can do now was to pray that nobody checks these wagons while going out.

Aureil tried to sneak through small cracks in the walls of the carriage, people have started to come out and were attaching horses to wagons. A black man almost seven feet tall came towards the wagon and harnesses the horse to the wagon.

They were outside Ryujin, Aureil looked towards Lucian who replied to him with a smile. Aureil was not able to accept until now that they were outside Ryujin without any hindrance. He looked towards Amaya who was cowering down towards his chest without realising, as these cold winds and warmth from his body forced her into dreams. He knew she was exhausted because of all the shenanigans that were happening in her life and with a small jerk, she was leaning on him. Aureil put one arm over her. He was anxious, the wind from the cracks forced her hair over Aureil face. She smelled similar to Jasmine. He sat there with silence.

The wagon stopped and Lucian can smell the amount of salt in the wind. They were somewhere close to the coast. The Rider went out and Lucian and Aureil both looked through the cracks to make sure he was nowhere near to the wagon and then stepped out of the wagon.

He looked around, there were not many people but labours were working on ships, the cargo was loaded on few ships and unloaded from a few. Amaya was still holding his hand and seems glad for the peace of the docks. Lucian was trying to find a place to set sail for the voyage.

They hurried past the lighthouse and music of the Lid.

"We'll require minimum crew and I presume the number of shizels I have will be enough to get one", said Lucian.

Aureil nodded his head in affirmation but he knew there was something else that was concerning Lucian and Aureil was not able to pinpoint what it was maybe that melody they both heard.

They walked inside one of the clubs and that was surely not a place for people who wished to have a proper journey and disciplined crew but Aureil knew they can't afford a normal crew.

Lucian went to the owner.

"We're looking for a crew."

"What job kids like you have got for a crew."

"I prefer to keep it classified."

The owner leaned on the table and saw directly in Lucian's eyes, "Then take your classified ass from here and find yourself."

Aureil and Amaya were standing along with Lucian when someone came from behind, "Maybe I can help if she helps me to quench my thirst" and grabbed Amaya's waist. She immediately slapped his hands and crouched towards Aureil.

There was silence in the whole club. Aureil pushed Amaya behind him and walked towards the man who was nearly seven feet tall, dense with muscle, his wide mashed-in face jammed low on a neck thick as a pylon.

"What you're planning kid? Cry "

Aureil was looked directly into his eyes and Lucian was standing with the support on the table almost relaxed, he knew what was going to happen and that'll surely help them to make sure they are left alone.

The next second, Aureil felt the air as that man reached for him. He stepped left and man lurched forward over one of the chairs, carried by his momentum and breaking it. Aureil grabbed one arm and perforated his shoulder with a broken leg of the chair. The man let out a loud grunt as he rotated the leg forcing it inside his shoulder.

As the man opened his mouth to scream again, he kicked his face and which left him with a bleeding nose.

"Are you planning on killing him ?", Lucian reached towards Aureil whose hand were reaching for his knife pouches. Aureil released his arm and stepped aside.

"I think he must be taken to the infirmary, this floor isn't suited for resting giants", suggested Lucian. Few men ran towards them and silently took his body outside.

"What was that? I thought you were just going to scare him", whispered Lucian in his ear.

"My! My! My!, Please accept my apologies. This place is not suited for you Nobel; surely we must adapt I presume it's our bad", someone was speaking from one table. He was wearing shabby clothes and a naval captain coat which had become almost black from pure white. He had his feet over the table and hat on his face. He grabbed the mug from the table and walked towards them and bowed in front of Amaya, "My lady, my sincere apologies for these people, these folks are not accustomed to norms on how to treat a lady", and smiled.

"Surely, I can offer my help to you. I have heard you are looking for a crew and by the grace of Sages I have one", he smiled "not a large one but surely an efficient one" and bowed again towards them with his cap in one hand.
