Chereads / While Asleep / Chapter 15 - On the way

Chapter 15 - On the way

In the next week, they were already traveling towards the academy Acheros and Dayanara talked about. It wasn't even a concrete plan. They just rushed there immediately after another attack was reported. Everybody is alarmed and scared, that's for sure. But not everyone has the chance to keep themselves safe like what will Callum and Loralai do. As for Dayanara and Acheros, they will stay at their house. They don't know what could happen if they won't inhabit their house. It can be a potential intruder base since their house is quite big.

As they are traveling, the four inside the car are quietly staring outside, wondering what will happen in the future. Everyone has no idea, actually. They are just waiting for another thing to happen. The government, along with the royal family is now doing everything they can to catch those terrorist villains, but to no avail. The villains keep escaping. Frankly saying, the people who are obliged to fight and catch those villains are wasting their lives for nothing.

So, what if they are able to detain those villains? Will everything be back to normal? Will the chaos stop? Will other people who have the same motives as those villains be scared for their lives and just hide somewhere unseen? For the world has hidden secrets, not everything will be revealed at one full blast. There may be villains now, the fact that no one knows if there are still more is a factor to be scared of. No one knows what might happen when. And that thing is something to be cautious of. Civilians don't know when will the next attack be, but the villains know when their next attack will happen and where.

Callum and Loralai have been wondering since this morning where the hell are they headed. They have no idea where their destination will be since their parents have talked nothing about this matter. They just said that they are going somewhere safe and away from harm. But what can they think? Every place in their country now is prone to danger.

They've been passing by countless trees on the roadside, but they can't familiarize the road since everything they see is just the same; the same road, the same trees, and the same sky. They are figuring out since they entered this creepy-looking road where exactly they are. But they can't picture it out since they haven't been here before. Their only clue is that they will be staying in that place for a while since they are bringing big bags with them.

"You okay?" Dayanara asked Loralai who is sitting at the back seat. "You're quiet."

"I am always quiet," Loralai replied. "This is my normal."

"Yeah, right," she said, realizing what she forgotten. "Tell me if you're hungry."

"I am," Callum interfered. "I am hungry since this morning."

"I guess you didn't eat your breakfast," Dayanara got something in her bag. "Here, eat this," she handed a bread to Callum, which he immediately started eating. "How about you?" Dayanara turned to Loralai.

"Hmmm," Loralai hummed. "I want some too."

The car went quiet again after Dayanara gave food to the two. Until afternoon, they are still travelling. It was like and endless journey to a non-existing place. Their butts are starting to get hurt for sitting for a long time.

"How far are we going to travel, really?" Loralai asked out of nowhere, obviously losing patience. "I feel like we aren't going anywhere. We're just like travelling in a circle, round and round, no destination, no end."

"Chill," Acheros said, laughing at Loralai's impatience. "We're almost there."

"How almost?"

"Like, 3 kilometers more."

Loralai just groaned at his father's answer. Seconds and minutes passed, and they have nothing to do than just sit there and let the car bring them to where they should be. Unaware of what is happening in the city, Dayanara turned the radio on and listened to what the news might say.

While Loralai, felt something strange inside her. It was the feeling that something wants to wake up and overtake your body. She tightly closed her eyes, fighting the feeling, while doing deep breaths that might calm her inner self down. The sound of the radio broadcaster talking wasn't helping. The non-stop blabbering of the news anchor bothers her calmness. She can't comprehend what is happening to her body because it's her first time feeling this kind of sensation.

Loralai sure is clueless of what she is feeling. For the first time in her life, she knew nothing about herself. A hot feeling inside her started to rise. She can't stop it. She softly moans every time she feels the uneasy sensation attacking her inside.

"Are you okay?"

Loralai was startled and immediately opened her eyes after she heard Callum's question. She immediately shook her head, trying to convince her brother that nothing is happening to her. But the truth is, Loralai is sweating and was nervous because her family might find her weird for acting that way. Well, that was weird. She didn't know she could feel that ever.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Loralai said, acting innocent. "I'm good… just lacking sleep."

Callum nodded, not totally buying Loralai's answer. "Ohhh… I though I saw you somehow, like, you are some sort of struggling at something. Are you sure you just feel tired?"

Loralai averted her gaze outside, avoiding Callum observant stare. "I'll just sleep for a moment. I just don't feel like myself today. I didn't have enough sleep last night, that's why."

While Loralai was looking outside, Callum's observing her actions intently. Ever since she came back, Callum's eyes are on her, waiting for something, like, some sort of weird actions or words that may come out of her mouth that can somehow help or lead to something useful in the future. What he's doing isn't good, alright. Suspecting someone isn't good, especially when you don't have reasonable evidences to prove it. But that's what he was doing. He is observing Loralai to gather possible evidences.

At this point, the old Callum who has doesn't heed Loralai any care or attention changed. He will pay more attention now, and a little care, to get Loralai's trust. What he will do is something he isn't sure of. He just want to try his luck, and test Loralai if she has something hidden that can be revealed through trust.
