Josephine's POV
The public washroom was a clean and bright space, with white countertops and shiny silver taps. The water is cold, nothing I can do about that. A woman next to me provided the necessities of first aid and helped me clean my wound. I thanked her and left the room when a pretty girl bumped into me.
" I'm extremely sorry! Let me help you clean... Let's head outside, it's pretty crowded here. "
She drags me all the way out. Her hair was like waves of pure earth, softly reflecting the light of the bar. She turned back to help me clean and that's when I noticed her,
" Heyyyyyy Tiaaaaaa!! It's you!! "
She stares with that look the girls around here take, one designed not to give any emotion away.
" Who are you?? "
She must be drunk. The girl turned her head, her eyes were blue, lids sagging and her face hung loose and long.
" It's me, Jerry!!! "
She turns slowly, not even bothering to listen to what I was saying.
" Jerry who???? ", she pouted.
There is something eternal about her lips as much as the eyes, her lips were a pale pink that reminded me of a rosebud. The top lip was thinner, but not too thin, and it had a natural cupid's bow, the bottom one was larger and plusher. I stared at them when she pouted in concentration, drank from her bottle, I wanted to feel her lips against mine. Though her lips are pretty, it is the feel of them that sends my mind into a sensual state of intoxication. With confusion, I didn't know what was happening to me, I reach towards her face,
" Josephine! "
" Huh? "
She pulled her dress a little lower and pushed her chest out a little further. She rumpled her hand through her hair and noticed me staring at her. She took a step forward and so did I! She raised her hand with less coordination than a concussed troll and swat me out of her way.
" Tia, what are you doing?? You're drunk!! Let's go home, come on! "
" I ain't going nowhere with you, Pervert! "
I pulled her closer and reached my hand around her shoulder for support. Now there's vomit on the floor.
" Oh Gawd, why me???..... Ugh!!! "
I carried her all the way, but her room asked me for the password, instead, I let her into my room and dropped her over the bed. I slowly changed her clothes without her notice, her soft, ivory shoulders were exposed and her curls fell down her back. Her lips were carefully tinted red and her skin was flawless.
I gripped my phone in my left hand, and started typing,
I left the bar! You guys can go ahead without me. I'm caught up with urgent work. Won't be able to make it tonight...Sorry about that! Have a great night. Will meet you guys again really soon.
I was attracted to her with the kind of heavy trance that brings a butterfly to nectar. For me, she was more beautiful than the winter sun above pristine snow, warmer than spring sunshine on soft new grass, and mesmerizing than the fall leaves. Looks like I've been slightly out of my mind since I met you. What is happening to me??
With a stretch and a yawn, I fell asleep on the sofa.
Tia's POV:
Slowly and reluctantly, I uncover my face. I blink, close my eyes, and blink again. Streaks of sunlight penetrate the window and blind me. I sit up, drag my feet off the bed, and rub my knuckles onto my eyes. I stretch my arms above my head and yawn. I watch my legs dangle above the off-white polyester carpet.
" Mornin' Sweet-heart! Had a great night's sleep?? "
My brain stutters for a moment and my eyes take in more light than I expected, every part of me pauses while my thoughts catch up.
" Where am I? "
" Where else? In my room! "
" Why am I here? "
She ignored.
" Breakfast's ready. Let's have that first? "
When our eyes lock over the breakfast table the soft expressions of only a few days ago have evaporated. After a few seconds, she turns her head to the window, eyes just as still, then she speaks,
" Are you feeling any better? "
" You never answered my question!! Why am I in your room?? "
" Looks like you don't remember anything, eh? "
I looked at myself for a moment and realized that this wasn't the dress I'd worn last night!
" D-Did you.... ?? "
" Yes, I did! It was me. "
" Are fucking insane? What did you do to me? How did I end up here? "
" Whoa whoa! Hold up, so you don't remember anything that happened last night? "
" No!!! "
" Glad to hear that! "
" Get to the point and answer my questions!! "
" First of all, nothing stupid happened between us!! "
I turned, but too slowly to be normal. Without being aware of it my left hand rises to stroke her back.
" Oops "
" I would still be your friend if you would extend your hand, but I know that you won't. "
" I'm sorry about the last night! " I regretted for a moment.
She got up from her table and I stood next to her while she'd been cleaning the dishes. Her eyes are so different in moments like these, softer than I knew eyes could be. If it were anyone else I would drop my gaze, but with her I'm drawn in closer, always wanting more. She moves closer with those eyes that look so deeply into my own,
" Hey, it's me. " My breathing becomes softer.
She put her hand on my arm and nudged me to face her. She reached up to touch my face and accidentally jabbed me in the eye with her finger,
" Ow," I said, flinching.
My stomach fluttering, I laughed and she held me steady with her hand on my arm again. Reached up more carefully this time and took my hand and pushed me against the wall,
" What are you doing " I whispered. Bits of hair escaped from my hood, blowing wildly around my wind-chapped cheeks, staring into her mouth. She pulled me close to her. Slowly, one by one, she tucked the wisps of hair up underneath my hat. The unexpected, tender gesture surprised me with a flood of warmth that radiated from my chest through the rest of my body. She clasped my face in her hands and gently touched my lips.
But suddenly, She took her hand and led her right to the front door.
" See you whenever. Bye! "
She slammed the door.
