"Father Gomo...? I apologize for the intrusion Sire." The deacon paused after witnessing that Head Priest Gomo was in a meeting inside his office. The deacon didn't know who the man was that Father Gomo was talking to, but he figured he was to be of an important position to have a private discussion with the Head Priest.
"How dare you come in here unannounced!?!" Head Priest Gomo shouted, release a glimpse of his mana control to reprimand the deacon before asking, "what could be so important that you would disturb my meeting!?" Head Priest Gomo had asked harshly.
"There's an emergency! Father Eladreas has brought in a newborn from somewhere! He's plagued with mana corruption!" the deacon who was now groveling had spoken very quickly. "Father Eladreas demanded I get you as to heal him."
The Head Priest's eyes that were previously glaring at the deacon began to let up, as he quickly turned to the mysterious man, "I apologize for the interruption, I will be sure to discipline my subordinates in the future. But seeing as how this is an emergency that even Father Eladreas can't manage, I will have to ask we postpone this meeting."
Father Gomo quickly apologized to the man he was talking to earlier before getting up from his desk and walking towards the door. As he was about to let himself out, the man asked, "could I come with? I would rather like to see what has happened to my Church's subsidiaries."
The man said matter of the factly as he got up from his chair and began to follow behind Father Gomo, "do as you wish my liege." Father Gomo bowed his head as he began to lead the mysterious man wearing a dark cloak towards the orphanage.
At the orphanage, Eladreas had already begun to try and stabilize Runaan's condition. All Eladreas could manage was to halt the spreading of the mana corruption. Once the corruption reaches the heart of the victims it seizes, that's when they become wicked abominations turning into demons.
The mana corruption was still limited to Runaan's tiny arms, but that just meant that it would spread even quicker towards Runaan's heart.
"Damnit, why am I not stronger, have I been failing in my studies of healing magic?" Eladreas lamented towards himself not paying attention to his surroundings. Just then the Head Priest had walked into the medical room of the orphanage.
"Your level of study isn't the issue here Eladreas," The Head Priest said upon entering and hearing Eladreas. "Who is this child? How has he come to be in this condition?" Father Gomo quickly asked.
"I don't know who he is, I found him in the Forbidden Woodlands while searching for krosis branches as you requested. He was about to be eaten by Black-tailed Shadow foxes when I was there. He was with his mother, she died giving birth to him it seems. His name though is Runaan, that's what was written in the dirt next to them." Eladreas summarized what had happened from his view.
"Do you have the mother's body?" Head Priest Gomo asked.
"Yes I do sir, but thats, not the issue here, the corruption is spreading, I can only hold it at bay, for now, I need you to heal him." Eladreas quickly said in a little disbelief that the Head Priest was curious of the mother's body in such a situation before him.
"Yes, yes, I was already preparing myself to heal, Runaan was it, it will be fine. I only wanted more information before continuing." Head Priest Gomo then raised his arms that had no begun to glow in a faint white glow. As he reached his hands towards the mana corruption in Runaan's body, the corruption began to burn and sizzle away.
"It never gets old seeing you use magic old friend." The man who had followed behind Head Priest Gomo said as he witnessed the holy magic fill the room. Only at that moment did Eladreas and the deacons notice that the man was standing there. They were momentarily stunned by the fact that he addressed him as an old friend.
Very few people could compare the Head Priest in terms of power and influence. To address such a person would definitely mean he was no slouch either, that or he was just an idiot.
"Hmph," Head Priest Gomo scoffed at his friend's remark, and as he scoffed, the room began to be enveloped in holy magic, all of the surroundings began to glow and be dissolved of any remaining corruption. Eladreas's fatigued body immediately was filled with vigorous energy, washing away his fatigue.
"That's odd..." Head Priest Gomo said without thinking, looking down at Runaan. Gomo suddenly had confused eyes looking at him before he continued to ask, "you said you had brought back Runaan's mother's body right? I need you to take her body out right now?" Directing a hurried feeling towards Eladreas.
Eladreas then cleared a space in the room to bring out Saris' body. He then raised his hand that he wore his spatial ring on and released Saris' body onto the floor. Everyone in the room immediately noticed the dead woman's beauty, only to be marred with bruises and scratches, across her body, synonymous with people fleeing from something.
Head Priest Gomo quickly noticed something about the woman's body that shocked him even more, as he quickly removed the two deacons in the room with force trying to block as much of their view of her body as possible.
He then quickly shut and locked the room and asked the cloaked man, "Alexandros, can you please seal this room, this concerns you as much as it does I."
"I understand where you're coming from, I've already sealed this room from prying eyes and ears." The room was now shimmering with an almost effervescent haze, as it shimmered with different and warping lights. "Speak Eladreas, where exactly did you find this woman!?" Alexandros asked harshly as he looked at Eladreas.
Feeling helpless under the immense pressure that the mysterious man named Alexandros, did Eladreas' mind quickly snap as he realized who was standing before him. "Your highness! I apologize for my earlier transgressions I..."
"Forget the formalities! Speak" Alexandros said cutting off Eladreas
"As I said earlier, I found her in the Forgotten Woodlands. He was under a krosis pine that was being gnashed at by a pack of Black-tailed Shadow foxes. They seemed to be attracted to her from the blood released during her giving birth to Runaan" Eladreas quickly said.
"Where in the woodlands did you find her specifically? Was there anything else on her or around her that seemed to be an heirloom of some kind?" Head Priest Gomo quickly asked as he was examining Saris' body.
"Just this that was around Runaan's neck when I found him" Eladreas got up and ran over to the counter that had the cloth that he wrapped around Runaan when he found him, on top of it he picked up a small golden locket.
The locket was made of Pheonix silver, an incredibly rare metal found only in the depths of caverns within forbidden territories. As Eladreas lifted the locket, it had opened, revealing an even more precious item, Dragonite.
"That's impossible!!" Alexandros quickly shouted in disbelief.
