"All that's left is for them to duke it out." "Yup." "This is getting kinda intense..." Knowing now that her role is over and that she'll just be a hindrance in the showdown between Demon Lord Alistair and Kurogami Akatsuki Inaba resigned from the game. She sat at a couch staring into the image projected by a clairvoyance sphere with Theia to her left and Shirayukihime sitting at the furthest side.
"Is this boy really human?" One of the maids whispers that question to which the other maids of the house could only give an awkward expression back as a reply.
"It's fine to let out your honest opinions here even if you are all just servants. You have my permission." It was Theia who had said that. What did the majority think? Who was going to win? Will it be the abnormality from another world or the Demon Lord?
"Yeah place your votes people." Shirayukihime is taking count like this is a game of horse race where money is at stake. The leading horse that everyone is thinking of that will win is probably the Demon Lord. Akatsuki in this case is the dark horse coming from behind steadily catching up to the lead horse. "I vote for the human." "Seriously? Well I guess I will too." "The master for me then." "Second that." The votes were mostly equally divided. Amongst the maids they were talking about the losing side having to take up extra work hours.
"I see." Of course all the two members of Nameless and Theia voted for Akatsuki.
Their fists collided releasing a shockwave per strike and counter. Eventually it turned into that of an arm holding match where both sides attempted to push the other back. That didn't exactly last long as the boy named Akatsuki lifted the Demon Lord off his feet and slammed him onto the ground like he was airing out a futon.
"Tch." Alistair backs away and dusts off his cloak unleashing razor sharp blades of wind.
"Dammit." Akatsuki had no choice but to dodge them seeing as these wind blades were sharp enough to tear away at his skin from his previous encounter.
"What's wrong? Not going to use that power again?" The question made Akatsuki laugh pitifully.
"I would if I could. But see." He points a thumb towards himself to his chest and grins.
"I'm giving you a handicap." "Is that an excuse?" "Originally I never wanted to use it. But instead I was going to attempt an ambush by going under your shield from the ground up." "Oh so you also knew that the Shield of Achilles didn't cover the area beneath my feet?" "It's obvious when you think about it. Achilles had a weakness and that was his heel. The shield imitates his invincible body of steel so it also imitates his weaknesses. As such I concluded that it doesn't protect the ground beneath you." "Oh? All that just from knowing about the myths behind it." "I traveled around the world back in my old world. I visited many of the world heritage sites.
Heard the stories of the locals and seen the sole wonders that remained in that world. My foster parent was quite a strange woman." Recalling those memories Akatsuki made a sad smile. Yes those were fond memories and if he is asked about them he could say that those were the best memories of his life back in the old world.
"She would drag me to go along with her to satisfy my boredom. Ever since she went off and died in a hospital bed I've been quite bored." He cursed fate for taking his parent away from him that day and screamed out like a wrathful wild beast that's untamed. What did he do again on that day? Akatsuki raised a whole city from its foundations and destroyed it out of frusration. Fortunately he still had some insanity left before he did that and gave out a warning ahead of time. It was an unreasonable thing to do but so was fate.
"Enough of that I guess. Come on let's end little game of ours." They took up a ready stance and at the same time Alistair and Akatsuki both kicked off the ground as a slab of earth poked out from behind them due to the sheer force they used for lift off.
They faced off at the midway of the distance that separated them. A violent storm broke out as the dead trees are blown away bending in shape. Clouds of dust rose from the impact of their exchange.
Punches were met with punches as a storm of barrages were unleashed against the other nonstop!
Rarely did either of them land a hit onto their opponent. At times the wind would cut him but Akatsuki paid no heed to the pain as warm blood flows out from his lacerations. These are just scratches and nothing more! It will take more than just that to immobilize him!
Alistair knew that he could not keep up against Akatsuki in frontal close combat. His strength exceeds his by far. Just taking even one hit from Akatsuki is the equivalent of being struck by meteor at full force! "..." Alistair gathers the winds in his hands. He was going to use that sphere of wind again?
"Tch." "Aeolus." That was the name of the magic that was used to cut the mansion in half.
"Will you not give up?" "To hell with that. I may have said that we can't win in the beginning but that doesn't mean we'll lose either. The least I'd settle for is a tie. But the best that I can go for is a win!" He clenches his fist strongly refusing to give up.
"Should this hit you will be cut in half regardless of your body's durability." Akatsuki knew that very well. Unlike the blades of wind this magic named Aeolus is far more concentrated. It was sharper than a honed blade and more powerful than a swing by a master swordsman.
"Before we settle this how about I ask you this. Originally this matter concerns my family, you should have nothing to do with this as an outsider so why did you butt in?" "I'm bored. Besides since I was called here into Eden by Inaba to help with reviving our Nameless Circle I was hoping to fight a Demon Lord in due time. But since it happened sooner than I expected I may as well took it." This was not a game in a RPG and Akatsuki is no hero. He is the strongest problem child of his world that was summoned to Eden by Inaba. If he was going to entertain himself he had to do this. Even if he was just a level one hero in his cloth armor should the Demon Lord appear before him he'll try to fight it while laughing about it.
This fight is the same. To Akatsuki this is just a fight where he can fully enjoy himself to the fullest. He could be pushed into a corner and be defeated while suffering a humiliating defeat. But so what? He can be free to push himself beyond his limits. Back in his old world he could not find an opponent that could give him trouble. However, here it was the said opponent that can give him a difficult time. This was the sort of thrill and battle that he longed for. This is the will of the abnormality known as Kurogami Akatsuki the strongest problem child from another world!
And since he is free to push himself pass his limits why not give it another try?
"Alright then let's pit our strongest skills against the other." Once more Akatsuki clenches his fist to the point where his knuckles became white. A pale light was emitted from his fist. Once more the power to devastate the stars is called upon.
"Aeolus cut him down!" The sphere of wind compresses and fully expanses outwards like a ring!
"Haaaaaaaaaaah!!!!" Akatsuki charges forward with his fist held back. Towards the white ring of wind that can cut anything in half. Towards the Demon Lord that stood in the epicenter of this phenomenon.
The ring of Aeolus's edge collides with the power that can devastate the stars the Shattering Earth.
"..." The Demon Lord gives a wry smile as if expecting this to happen.
The game is over and the winner was...
