"What the hell is wrong with you people?!" Theo bellowed, grabbing my wrist roughly and pulled me to his side. "Are you all blind or something? Can't you see there's broken glass everywhere?! You're all gonna get fired today!"
Mrs McAllister heard the commotion and rushed over in a hurry. "Theo darling, please calm down..."
She looked like an older version of Cassandra, equally as tall, slim and beautiful. They probably could pass for sisters. The only difference was she oozed a lot more glamour which made her seem even more attractive.
She wore a sleek black maxi dress with a hand-embroidered fully beaded gold bodice. If Cassandra was a Princess then she was definitely the Queen. As she tried to soothe Theo she saw my bleeding hand and she suddenly stopped talking.
Embarrassed, I tried to hide my hand behind my back. It looked much worse than what it actually was. But Theo gripped my wrist tightly, refusing to let go. I gave him an evil stare, which he seemed to be oblivious to.
"We need a doctor! Where the hell is Angus Watt?!" Theo was still shouting.
"It's Dr Watt," Mrs McAllister's delicate face showed a flash of annoyance as she corrected him. She could see her son was worried for the girl, they all were, but that was not the way to address their family doctor. She didn't raise her son to be a rude and arrogant man-child.
"Fine, Dr Watt, where the hell is he then?" Theo snorted. Gesturing the staff to go and find him.
"Yes, let's get your hand seen by a doctor dear." Mrs McAllister reassured me kindly.
My cheeks were burning, I bet you could roast marshmallows on it if you wanted to. Theo was making a big scene and the entire room was watching us. I felt like now would be a good time for the ground to swallow me up.
"Is everything ok?" Cassandra asked, her fiancée trailing closely behind.
"Yes dear, it's fine," Mrs McAllister said, trying to wave her off. "We're just waiting for Dr Watt to have a look at this young lady's hand."
"She's got a name you know!" Theo barked, "her name is Aria!"
Ok, Theo, please shut up already, now thanks to you everyone knows my name. I hung my head in shame.
"Please stop shouting darling," Mrs McAllister said, "we'll get Aria seen by the doctor."
"Christian used to be a doctor, he could probably have a look?" Cassandra looked at her fiancé with big eager eyes, pleading with him to go along with it.
He reciprocated with a gentle nod and before he even had the chance to reached out his hand Theo snorted, pulling me towards him as if I was his property, "back off! Who are you trying to kid? He hasn't practised medicine for years! We'll wait for a REAL doctor!"
"Theo!" Cassandra snapped. She placed a coaxing hand on her fiancé's arm. Theo was being completely irrational when he gets in one of his legendary mood swings. They were only trying to help here and he was acting as if it was him against the world.
"I'm fine, really," I said, tugging Theo's sleeve with my free hand. They looked like they were about to draw their swords against one another, and I didn't want to be the root of all evil. "I can clean it up myself. ."
Theo looked at me, his dark eyes still fuming. Then moments later, he felt as if someone had thrown a bucket of water on his internal fire and finally gave in, "tell Dr Watt to come up to my room ASAP!"
As we walked back out the room, the crowds moved out the way creating a clear path for us, making me wonder if that was what Moses felt like when he parted the Red Sea?
Theo decided to take me to the nearest bathroom to wash my wounds first and since he was still holding onto my wrist, I had no choice apart from following him.
"Honestly, I leave you for one minute..." Theo began as he turned on the Gold taps to get the right water temperature flowing.
His words disrupted my train of thoughts. He was blaming me for tonight's events? That was like kicking a person when they were down in the dumps.
"Excuse me?" I retorted, snatching my hand away. Sod him, and his fancy bathroom! "I've barely seen you all evening, apart from you shouting at me!"
"Were you missing me?" He asked, grinning like a little boy.
I fell into that one, didn't I? I felt like kicking myself. So I gave him the evilest glare I could muster before turning my head away, refusing to answer.
He laughed. "Look, I wasn't shouting at you earlier." He explained, gently rinsing my bloodied hand underneath the tap.
It stung like hell. I held the tears back and complained, "yes you were, you were blaming me for giving Lottie too much cake! Then you told me to get out of your house!" I knew I was merely trying to vent out my anger. It probably wasn't about the cake or him.
He looked slightly stunned then he shook his head, "that wasn't directed at you, I wouldn't do that. As for Lottie..." he paused for a second, "she's a bit different."
I frowned, what did he mean by different?
"My grandfather found her in a park one day and brought her back. My parents then adopted her, that's why she's a lot younger than my sister and me. We're not sure if she is a werewolf or not because my parents had done a DNA test and they couldn't find the werewolf recessive gene."
"So what is she then?" I asked. Was she merely a human? A vampire? A dragon? Or something else?
He looked into my eyes and I could see into the depth of his eyes. All joking aside, he uttered the words, "she's my sister."
