Day 13 of the Aries constellation in the year 1198 AD
*Shling* *boof*.
The looming sounds of the Guillotine as it slammed upon my neck for the first time ending the second most miserable part of my now not so eternal life; At least this time I got to die with the one I loved although it was sad seeing her cry. My name is Azraeal and as of now I'm not sure what I am anymore but whilst I fade into the blackness let me explain to you how it all started.
...…
My Story jumps off in heaven, where a fleet of one hundred angels clad in iridescent golden armor were on duty watching over the peace of a now developing more stable human population. To be more specific is was a region known as Britalia a humble region where the practice of magic has been legalized but only in their armies and academies. If you get what is going on it was a very strict city and anyone caught breaking the law is exiled or killed.
"I really wonder how it is to live down there like that, it looks so easy" – I muttered to myself deep in thought.
"I bet it'll be fun to try something new for a change because everything here is getting pretty boring." With fire in my eyes I clenched my fist and commence my first job as a watcher.
This scene ends and continues with me walking home only to see my mentor and adopted uncle the Archangel Michael. I dashed over to him with a mind brimming with thoughts and questions to be answered.
Azraeal: "My lord uncle, may I have a word" I queried, gnawing on my thumb in anticipation.
Michael: "Sure, what is it you need my child?" Retorted with a look as if he was going to humor my thoughts.
Azraeal: "Is it ok to venture down to the earth? Not for personal reasons, just to gather knowledge on why do humans fall in love and is worth risking life and resources over. I mean I saw this young couple one night on duty and I thought was interesting how the young man lied and gave his life to protect his confidante. Why is that so uncle?"
While continuing down the passage to capitol, he stopped, turned to me with anguish in his eyes and replied,
Michael: "I don't ever… and when I say ever, I mean never, want you to think or even say those words ever again! Do you understand me? And don't you dear mentioning this to your sister."
Walking towards me with a new fearsome look in his eyes, I could only tremble for I thought I've gotten on his last nerve this time. I closed my eyes in fright only to feel the warm embrace and the words "I don't want to have to lose you" whispered across my cheeks.
Michael: "I've lost enough people in my life time, especially the ones I held dear. You, me and your sister, we've been through a lot and I'll always try to have your back you guys are my dearest pupils and you've shown me a most promising future Don't let it slip away from you."
Gadreel: "Hey Azzy! Let's hang out, we've always been working!"
Michael: "We can continue when we get home, is that okay with you?" Michael said silently.
Azraeal: "Yeah okay, you promise?"
Dashing away I yelled out "Thanks" while running over to my friends, thus placing a pin in the long lecture I had ahead of me.
At a pond known as the Hestian near the vicinity our group settled and caught up. Gadreel 100,000 years older than us was like the older brother of the group, my twin sister Azriel, Jael and Haziel are all the dear friends I have. Even though I found it hard to really get along with my sister, because she's such a know it all and sucks up to the higher angels, we do look alike so I guess we had to get along. And then there is Haziel the younger brother of Gadreel and Jael my sister's closest friend, nothing ever really stood out about them but I guess they were always with us until they started to feel like family to me. The Five of us were near inseparable and revered as the next archangels by the armadas we took charge of respectively.
Gadreel: "So Azzy what was the ear full about you care to tell us? Nonchalantly said with a smug look. Did you do something stupid again?"
Azraeal: "No not this time smartass, and I promised I would never speak of it again to lord ` Michael."
Haziel: "Aww come on, it looked really interesting. You have to tell us mate."
Azraeal: "I only promised to not tell my sister so I guess I can tell you guys. BUT! You have to promise me on your life and the Lord that you will not tell anyone else."
Gadreel: "Hey Jael you and Azriel go get the group some food, won't ya love?"
Azriel: "Don't I get a say in this?"
Azraeal: "I'm sorry but I made a promise and it's final. I am a man of my word and I'd like to remain that way."
Azriel: "Fine, fine I'll go, but, you owe me for this. Got that?"
Azraeal: "Yes, yes now run along big mouth. Now with the females gone let us begin."
Unknowing to us they haven't left the area and can still hear us, they listened, as I explained what really was taking place earlier that evening. Two hours past and the duo returned with the snacks and we laughed under the evening's sky.
With a few blinks of the eye it was nightfall. We all said our goodbyes and went home. Thinking to myself I remembered I had to finish the conversation with Lord Michael.
Michael: "You're late. But that's okay let's continue where we left off."
Azraeal: "Yes… Sir…" *gulp* "But is it really that bad though?"
Michael, knowing the right thing to do counselled his young pupil, explaining that they, being angels are forbidden from having any form of relations with the children of earth.
Michael: "Let me tell you about a story about what happened five hundred thousand years ago. One of my brothers thought the exact same thing and descended to earth with a fleet of about 200 curious angels at his command to fulfil their every desire. Some of them took wives some of them took unto themselves husbands. The name of the man which I am referring to, was your adoptive father of you and your sister, Semyaza. He along with his other much older adoptive son, Azazel and the army of 198 elite angels began their expedition to earth. They gave on to the humans the secret arts of angel, how understand of the earth and the stars, the heavens and even the knowledge of Purgatory, forbidden to lower classed angels. A few years past after their descent to earth and they began the creation of a kingdom, Olympus, in a country now known as Greece and took unto themselves the title of Gods, had half breed children known now as Nephilims with the children of earth and taught their new children, their lovers and followers that they amassed the ability control the forces of the planet and harness the energy and resources of nature. Gabriel, Uriel, Raphael and I, the four great archangels, were given the jobs as messengers to denounce the punishment, from our father, given to each individual accused of the treachery. All but one was banished to the pits of Tartarus. That one remaining angel was your brother Azazel, He was transformed into a Goat and bounded upon a stone tablet with swords impaling his body in a desert cave duadel deep in the regions of Mount Hermon for he committed one of the most heinous acts by teaching the arts of warfare and beautification to the foolish human, which led to the corrupt society we are obligated to watch over. With no way to enter into heaven again my brother has to spend the rest of his eternity in hell as a fallen angel.
I don't ever want that to happen to you it would tear my soul open. You understand?"
Azraeal: "But what if I never intended to start any relation with the children of earth."
Michael: "Foolish boy! Listen to the words I have to dawn on you. I don't know what will happen to you if you enter in the earthen realm or worse converse with the people and I will not be able to protect you. I might even be forced to carry out your punishment myself if you were even to set foot there."
Conspicuously avoiding what the punishment would be, Michael sat there in turmoil, for he undoubtedly seemed worried about something.
Azraeal: "But…"
Michael: "There is no buts in this situation. Think about your friends, think about your sister, and think about your squadron. How would they feel to hear that one most suspected to ascend to the rank of archangel stripped of everything condemned to hell?"
Azraeal: "Ok Lord Michael, I have seen the error in my thoughts and I will reflect on them for the rest of the night… I think I'll go freshen up and get some rest. Good night Lord Michael."
Michael: "You can call me uncle at home you know, Good night. And remember there's only one difference between a demon and an angel."
Azraeal & Azriel: "What's that?"
(Creeping out of a corner comes Azriel)
Michael: "So you were listening weren't you?"
Azriel: "I'm sorry."(Twiddling her thumb)
Michael: "It's ok, I'm glad I won't have to go over any of that with you."
Azriel: "You would not need to uncle. I do not share the same desires as my imprudent brother."
Michael: "As I was saying the difference between a demon and an angel is the choice of whose rule to follow. Also not all demons are bad and not all angels are all good."
Azraeal: "If that is all, I'll be going now…" *sigh*
I turned around and headed towards the bathroom biting my lip with dissatisfaction and thus ended the day where my desires for knowledge triumphed or so I was led to believe. A multitude of days has transpired and my dissatisfaction has only amassed its magnitude for I still yearn for the knowledge hidden in the earthen realm. The day came, when finally, I was full of it all. I had made my decision but was still in some relative disarray for commencing on my thoughts will mean committing a dissolute feat in contradiction of the command from my Lord Uncle and God himself. I may have regretted my decision, or maybe I didn't; but in the morning I decided to meet with Gadreel and Haziel for I was brimming with a lust for knowledge and I had to transgress with someone. We met up at the Hestian pond - the same place as last time to converse on the dissipating topic.
Azraeal: "Guys, I don't think I can hold back anymore."
Haziel & Gadreel: "What is it this time?"
Azraeal: "I'm going… I'm going to venture down to Earth."
Gadreel: "hahahaha! …Surely you jest."
Azraeal: "I'm being serious here!"
"I want to experience the things that I could never have dreamt of whilst caged up in this so called paradise."
Haziel: "But you said you gave Lord Michael your word. Do you know what it means to go against the deals made to any of the elder angels?"
Azraeal: "No but…"
Haziel: "Honestly, I don't know either."
"And it might seem fu….."
Gadreel: "That's ENOUGH!! "
Thunder claps with the quaking of his voice. This shows somewhat proof that Gadreel was most displeased with my choice.
"I refuse to watch my closest friends throw away their divinity, and their life for mere curiosity."
Haziel: "Then why not come with us. I know that you have the slightest bit of curiosity welling up inside as to how the reside there."
Azraeal: "Yeah Gady, It would not be the same without you."
Haziel: "We are a team of course."
Our group, flabbergasted with anticipation, awaited the response from Gadreel. For I assumed, with all three of us together, the punishment would be a bit more lenient.
Azraeal: "Come onnn…..we need you"
Haziel: "We? I never said I would tag along, I only mention that it would seem fun."
Gadreel: "…Fine…"
Azraeal: "yes!"
Gadreel: "But only on two conditions, we have to do this as a group and we minimize our interaction with the general public as much as possible…"
"You got that."
"Oh and Haziel… You are coming."
Haziel: "Well I didn't say I wouldn't tag along either. But if we all go then it should be fine."
Azraeal: "Before we go, do you guys know how to conceal your wings?"
Gadreel: "Just who do you think you're speaking with buddy? Of course I can."
Haziel: "So can I..."
Azraeal: "I guess it's just me that having troubles then… darn…I'll have to master it then."
Haziel: "Wait just a minute there. You the well-renowned star pupil of Lord Michael cannot pull of such a simple feat…*small chuckle* I have something over you now."
Gadreel: "Come on now Haziel, do not tease him. Maybe there is a reason."
Azraeal: "Yeah, shut up Haze. It's just that it gets harder to control when my emotions are not focused."
Haziel: *blurts out with laughter* "You still have emotional trouble, there goes your chance of being an archangel." *finishes with a small chuck and wipes away tears*
Azraeal: "Uncle…I mean Lord Michael said that it was fine, because even Lord Gabriel has trouble controlling his emotions from time to time and look where he is now."
Haziel: "You're a walking time bom..."
Gadreel: *punches Haziel on the shoulder* "Will you shut it; for the love of God. Azzy it's fine you're strong and I trust you have enough control over it."
Haziel: "Ow!"
Azraeal: "Thanks Gady, so we can run a trial tomorrow?"
Gadreel: "Sure, around 7PM?"
Azraeal: "That'll be excellent… bullocks, I'm going have to find a way to ditch Azriel."
"Knowing here she'll probably rat us out to Lord Michael."
Haziel: "Hey come on! Don't I get a say in this too?
*Group laughter*
Azraeal: "Nope."
Gadreel: "Not one."
Haziel: "You guys are really mean, you know that"
Azraeal: "Look at that it's almost noon. I should get going"
"Later guys!"
Gadreel: "Take care."
Haziel: "See ya!"
Azraeal: "Oh yeah, we'll meet back here if that's okay. Wouldn't want to arise any unwanted suspicion from any one.
Dashing off in our separate directions; we continued our day as we would normally do; completing our respective assignments. With this, nightfall arose and it swirled in on me undertaking my training to better control my fluctuating inner emotions.
Azraeal: "I don't think I can focus with you hovering around Azriel."
Azriel: "How did you notice me? ... I am sure I was properly hidden."
Azraeal: "Even if I can't sense you and I can… I sure as hell can still smell you."
Azriel: "ha-ha (sarcastic laughter), you think you are so funny. Well you're not."
Azraeal: "I wasn't being funny but whatever. What do you want anyways?"
Azriel: "I came to get you for dinner."
Azraeal: "I will be with you in a minute, I think I almost got the hang of this."
Azriel: "Don't let me get uncle."
Azraeal: "FINE!! I'm coming."…*girts teeth* "You freaking pest."
"I guess that will be enough for today."
We all sat around the table as we begun to consume the dinner prepared by my sister.
Azraeal: "This is by far the only thing I see you good at."
Michael: *chuckles* "You two should really learn to get along better, after all you are the most destructive twins I have ever met and you can't have one without the other now can we."
Azriel: "Uncle don't say it as though we can't live without each other. Because you know I am the stronger of the two."
Azraeal: "I wonder when that happened."
Azriel: "You shut your face. At least I have control over my emotions."
Azraeal: "Screw you! I only have problems with my anger."
Azriel: "Says the walking time bomb."
Michael: "That's enough! No more bickering between the two of you as long as you are near me. Do you understand me?"
Twins: *muffle chatter "Yes sir…"*
Michael: "DO…YOU…UNDERSTAND?!"
(With his destructive golden aura radiant from his being)
Twins: "YES SIR!"
(Quivering and shaking)
Michael: "That's wonderful."*with a slight smirk* "I seem to have broken my fork can someone fetch me another."
Azraeal: "I'll go!"
Without a thought to my mind I swooshed over to the kitchen as fast as possible for I was very well nearing the point of soiling my pants.
"He...he…here you go."
Azriel: "And you said I like to suck up."
Azraeal: "Shut up, you were as dumbfounded as I was just now."
Michael: "Did I make myself clear just now?
(His eyes turn a bright gold and the room felt even more intense than before)
Twins: "Yes sir! We're sorry!"
Michael: "Azriel…"
Azriel: "Yes uncle!"
Michael: "You're doing the dishes since you can talk that much."
Azriel: "Yes…uncle…"*sigh*
Azraeal: "I'd like to go to my room now."
Michael: "Sure go ahead, but help clear the table."
Azraeal: "Yes sir."
"Oh Haziel, Gadreel and I will be taking a voyage through heaven tomorrow, so we may be gone for around two to three days."
Michael: "Just don't do anything stupid or that'll affect heaven itself, remember who you are."
And so, the night concluded with an anomalous chill to the back of my neck. I could sense the brimming catastrophe bound to happen for we have been gravely unprepared for what is to take place tomorrow.
I arose with the morning as the burning sun to be great by a vision of destruction. Me being who I was, I never paid any heed to the warning from my 'vision' but went along with my usual morning routine, but something felt out of the ordinary. Upon leaving the house, I was blessed with a weird message from my sister. It was a warning, she told me simple don't. Unfortunately I shrugged it off for I had waited too long for this opportunity. The day felt rich with emotions and an airy feeling of uneasiness. The warning was right in my face, was this God's doing? I could not tell at the moment. Nevertheless, I went along to my post and waited.
Ample time transpired and it was bordering on the time of our meet. As I left my post I felt the burning sensation of eyes piercing into my neck. I was being followed. I sprouted my wings and took to the sky trying to evaluate my situation and figuring out who was following me, but my efforts were to no avail. With not a second thought, I flew over the Hestian pond where I noticed my confidants awaiting my arrival.
Gadreel: "Okay seeing that we're all here, let's get ready to go."
Azraeal: "I bought use three days with Lord Michael."
Haziel: "Guys, are we really doing this?"
Gadreel: "Yes, now come on we are wasting precious time."
Azraeal: "I think we should be careful though, I may have been followed."
I failed to mention the signs that I was given earlier today for I fear it would hinder our expedition. And onward stridden towards the gates of Jannah to venture into the Earthen Realm for our 'research.'
Azraeal: "I heard gold was necessary for living in the Earthen Realm so I brought a ton of them. What did you bring?"
Gadreel: "Nothing… Now be quiet"
Haziel: "Hey guys, I do not wish to sound like a party pooper, but is that Lord Gabriel leaving from the gate?"
Azraeal: "Crud!"
Gadreel: "shhhhhhhhhh! Are you stupid what if he heard you?"
Azraeal: "I'm sure he already noticed us."
(But I hope not)
The closer we got, the brighter the gate gleamed, and in contradiction the stronger the presence of Lord Gabriel grew. It made me doubt that even the three of us could even harm a follicle of hair on his arm.
Haziel: "Anyone having second thoughts yet?"
"No one….Okay."
Azraeal: "I don't think we're making it past him guys."
Haziel: *sigh* "I'll regret this, but I have an idea."
"I'll be the decoy this time and I'll talk to him. Just wait for my signal so you two can go ahead. I want a souvenir remember that."
Gadreel: "Fine… but are you sure?"
Haziel: "Now go hide for a bit."
Azraeal: "Thanks, I'll owe you forever."
Haziel: "I get it now go damn it."
The trio split into two and Haziel went on a head to create a window for Gadreel and me to crossover through the gate. There was a fault in our plot. The closer we got to the gate, the fewer the buildings became, so our plan to hide close to the gate became riddled with possible errors. I was sure Haziel noticed as well so I prayed he had the tenacity to keep Lord Gabriel at bay long enough for us to leave. We awaited while behind a corner close enough to see and hear what taking place.
Haziel: "My Lord Gabriel! May I have a moment?" 'I hope he buys this.'
Gabriel: "What is it child, I am busy."
"I was sure that I felt four presences, where are the other?"
Haziel: 'SHIT!' "What others?" 'Wait four???'
Gabriel: "Do you think I am a fool?" *Folds his arms* "Where are they?"
Haziel: "I don't know what you are referring to my lord."
Gabriel raised his index finger from his arm and suddenly, a burst of energy begins to surge from his body. Cloaked in a beautiful aura Gabriel seemed to be losing his patience.
Gabriel: "You continue to play games child. Speak; now!"
Haziel: *gulp* "I can't breathe."
(Down on his knees with sweat dripping from his chin he struggled to speak)
Gabriel: "Oh dear, I almost lost control there. I apologize, but do tell where are you companions I felt earlier."
Haziel: "They stopped to look at something."
"But anyways Lord Gabriel, what I meant to ask was, if you could be my tutor so I can become even stronger."
Gabriel: "Surely you jest."
Haziel: "No sire, I wish to become as strong as you when I ascend to the rank of archangel."
Gabriel: "Become as strong as me you say."
Haziel: "Yes sir. With just a lift of your finger I was rendered to my knees and having problems breathing."
Gabriel: "You will have to prove yourself to me for I have no interest in teaching a mere child how to breathe."
Haziel: "You just caught me off guard sire. I am sure I can prove myself off to you."
Gabriel: "Is that a smirk coupled with your snide remark. Follow me, you'll prove to me at the plains of Belphegor."
"Just prove that you are as capable as that Azraeal child and I will accept you."
Haziel: *sigh* 'such a drag' "Ok. I can do that."
After watching both angels take wing, Gadreel and I went towards the gate. But, for the strangest reason it still felt as though I was being watched. It's not that I cared or anything, nothing could stop me from attaining my goal.
Gadreel: "It should take at least a day and a half to get to the earthen realm from heaven. If we fly the way that is."
Azraeal: "Then what are we waiting for. Let's go damn it, before he comes back and sees us."
Rushing through the gate, we wasted no time, for time is something we have been praying for.
Haziel: 'Good luck guys.'
Unknown: 'So that's what is going on… I must inform uncle before things get out of hand.'
Gabriel: (with a devious smirk) *hmph* 'They actually did it, how foolish.'
