Chapter 44 - Agassiz

Agassiz had truly given up and whatever this new torture was she would deal with it with a blank stare and no resistance. If he wanted to give her a bath, sure, whatever. At least when she returned to her stone floor she wouldn't gag on her own scent. As Agba turned the water on in his luxurious shower, she permitted herself to look up slightly and glanced around the room.

She immediately wished she hadn't because she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. She didn't even recognize herself. Her black, glossy hair was ashen gray as was her face. The orange of her eye barely contrasted the white around it and the scarred eye blared loudly against her pale face. Her entire body was scarred with small cuts; torture from razor blades, the cuts itched worse than the initial pain and with her hands bound drove her to near madness after they cut her. Her skin was covered in dried blood, dirt and filth, collarbones sunken in, breasts sagging; the muscles having given way from too many beatings. She closed her eye, feeling suddenly sick and sat down abruptly on the floor.

Agba turned and looked down at her, feigning fake sympathy and said, "Here love, lets get you presentable again." She looked up mustering some courage and said, "Stop calling me that." Again with the hands in the air; she was growing beyond tired of that. He reached under her arms and picked her up and when she was steady on her own feet again he unshackled her hands and motioned for her to step in the shower. She stiffened as he began to remove his own clothing and noticing that her body had turned into an oak tree he said, "I'm not going to hurt you, I just don't want to get soaked in the process."

Agassiz didn't believe him in the least, but he leaned her back and got her hair wet so he could begin to wash it. The water ran black. Agba curled up his nose and upper lip, "Goodness we didn't take very good care of you did we?," he smirked at her. He continued and cleaned every inch of her thoroughly. He even conditioned her hair, which had turned less gray but not near the blue black it had been. Satisfied with his work, he turned the water off and handed her a towel as he grabbed one for himself. "You can rest here," he said as he motioned towards the bed, "I'll call for food and some fresh clothes and then we will be on our way."
