Chapter 33 - Wits End

A few weeks later, they were both at their wits end. It wasn't Bane; he was the poster child of perfection now that he was fed regularly and cared for. His bright yellow eyes caught everything and he was completely content to sit on the beach and watch the waves and nap while his mother and Jarron hunted and ran camp. They had decided to be together but neither one of them knew where to start and it wasn't as easy as it had been the day she had let go and touched his cheek with her own. The weather was unbearably hot and they were trying to switch over to sleeping in the ship during the day and being awake during the night. Evil had been distant the last few days and Jarron was growing tired of it. She had gone back to not speaking except through the bond and to Bane. In the wee morning hours, Evil had laid Bane down for a nap in the ship and the two of them left to hunt before the sun caused everyone's moods to foul even more. Jarron moved down the ramp behind Evil, watching her slow limp, his eyes moving up from her feet and dwelling on the back of her thighs and low back. Coming to the end, he stopped and leaned against a tree there.
