The next morning came, Emily was reading a book about the various types of souls and what colors they fall under. Jakub was exercising in the backyard making sure to maintain his level of fitness. Nicole and Light remained in bed together where they decided they would spend the night, in Nicole's room. Light laid staring at Nicole as she slept, still thinking about the day before. She had a rough time sleeping, she may have been torturing Dreg but the torture it would play on her mind came after.
Jakub came into the living and sat next to Emily, he had a towel on his head to stop the sweat and no shirt on.
"Dude, the towel isn't stopping the sweat on your body, idiot. Plus walking around shirtless in a house full of women? Have some class." Emily said to Jakub.
Jakub smiled. "You like what you see? I keep myself in pretty good shape."
"I won't deny that you have a nice body but like I said have some class. Go shower and put clothes on." She replied
"Fine fine." Jakub got up and went to shower.
Emily couldn't tear her thoughts away from the book she was reading. No matter how much of it she read, there was absolutely nothing tied to the black or white souls. She read about Christian Tress's bone shaping abilities, Light's metal body hardening abilities, and Nicole's healing abilities. They all had some sort of negative to them, like Nicole's healing causes nose bleeds or bleeding in other areas from other recorded data. Light's hardening could only stay effective for about five minutes before starting to weaken in all records. Tress's bone shaping weakened the users red blood cell production and could cause severe complications if over used.
As she continued studying the different known abilities she saw one about flaming wings. Flaming wings fell under the blue soul, the use of elements. It was said there is only one known recorded instance of flaming wings, also known as the Phoenix wings. In the recorded instance the wings were able to throw fire as a trajectory type of weapon almost at the rate of an assault weapon. Flames would launch in an arrowhead shape toward the desired target. They were named the Phoenix wings because they believed that if the user were to die, the wings had a chance of bringing them back to life.
"Phoenix wings huh…" Emily said to herself.
"Good morning Emms!" Nicole said as she ran around the corner and jumped on the couch. "Where is Jakub?"
"He went to take a shower, he was exercising in the back." Emily replied.
"Good Morning Emily." Light said as she walked around the same corner that Nicole had, stretching.
Emily looked at Nicole and then looked at Light. "What were you two up to?"
Both began to blush and stutter trying to get the words out. "We just spent the night together, nothing happened!" Nicole said.
"Hey hey hey I wasn't saying anything in a bad way. You guys can do whatever you want." Emily smiled.
Light sat down and sighed. "So about the person I wanted you guys to meet. He knows a lot about souls and the lengthy amount of types that fall under each color. He delved deeply into the study of white and black, and what their possibilities could be. Them being unknown for so long and nobody ever having them or at least recorded there was only so much he could hypothesize. He taught me everything I know and even got me fake high credentials so I could be a nurse at a university at only twenty three." She finished the last part smiling and scratching her head.
"Wait so you're not a real nurse?" Emily and Nicole asked at the same time.
"Not really no. I'm definitely smart enough to be one, even a doctor at that. In my situation though I didn't have time to go to school and I needed a way in. So he helped me, I was tracking Tress at the time. He was the only reaper lead I ever had here." Light replied.
They both shrugged. "Oh well. We've gotten this far with you."
Jakub walked out from the hallway opposite of where Nicole and Light came from. He had only a towel around his waist and on his head. "Awkward… I totally thought it was only going to be Emily out here" He turned around and walked back to his room to put clothes on.
"WHAT DOES IT BEING JUST ME HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING!" Emily yelled at Jakub as he walked away.
Jakub was laughing as he walked away.
"He likes you…" Said Light
"Yup." Nicole agreed
"He's so into you and you don't even know it. I always catch glimpses of him looking at you." Light said jokingly.
"Shut up… no he doesn't he's just an idiot with no common sense. Why would he even like me, we barely know each other." Emily said with frustration in her voice.
Light and Nicole smiled at one another.
"On that note, let's get ready to go meet this acquaintance of yours Light." Said Nicole.
Emily and Light agreed, heading to their rooms to get ready.
Jakub came running into the living room. "Have you guys- where did they all go?" Everyone had already gone to change to leave the house.
As they were getting ready to leave the house the driver asked if they would like him to take them. Nicole declined his offer and told him to take the day off. Light had her car at the house and they planned on her driving there. Lights car was your typical ground type non flying car. Although it still looked like something you would see in that line motorcycle game. It had an autopilot mechanic that could set the destination and it would drive there. Making it easy for her to have conversations on the way. The seats inside were able to turn around and everyone could face one another as it drove.
"His name is Taiyo Reinheart, a very unique name. His mother was Japanese and his father was German. He goes by Doctor Reinheart, and is one of the most intelligent men you will ever meet. He knows everything there is to know about souls, just wait" Light told the group.
They arrived outside a small building on the east side of Lotte. Nothing fancy about it, just a simple one story building standing next to massive skyscrapers. It was a soul doctors office named Rein's Heart, a play on the doctor's last name. The four of them walked inside to a secretary sitting behind her desk.
"How may I- LIGHT! How nice to see you!" The secretary said.
"Amaya! Guys this is Amaya Reinheart, the doctor's daughter." Light informed the others.
"We're here to talk to your dad if he is available." Light told Amaya.
"He's just in the back room working on something, go right around and see him." She replied
They all thanked Amaya for helping them and headed around to talk to the doctor.
"Doctor Reinheart!" Light shouted at the man sitting in the room working on some machine.
The old man jumped and turned toward them. "My little Light! How have you been? Who are these fine young people with you?" Reinheart asked.
"These are my friends and uhhh I'm not sure what to call us." Light finished while looking at Nicole.
"I'm Light's girlfriend Nicole Caladrius." Nicole answered. Light smiled blushing so brightly.
"I'm one of Light's friends Emily Herth"
"I am also one of her friends. My name is Jakub Velk."
He smiled and spoke. "I'm glad to see little Light could find her way. So what brings you here?"
"We're here to know some about your in depth study on souls, more so toward the black and white souls." She replied.
"Actually I happen to be working on a machine that simulates what it would be like for someone to have one of the two." He informed the group.
"Well, that's why we're here. Emily has a black soul and Jakub has a white one." Light told him.
The doctor stared at the group of them as if they were joking and pulled out a locator. "Prove it." He said.
Jakub stuck it into his arm. "White." It read.
Emily replaced the needle and then stuck it into herself. "Black."
He stared in amazement. "So what kinds of things have you been able to do. I've been able to hypothesize some about the two of them. My main one for black has been based on the fact that souls colors seem to be based on the rainbow, that black is the attraction of all of them therefore is able to hold one of every type."
Emily made a face as if what he was saying actually made sense to her. "It would explain a lot, I can summon wings apparently known as Phoenix wings and also heal."
"You can heal as in green type healing and have Phoenix wings which are a blue type. So not only do you have more than one you've gained them meaning there was a soul transfer which is also believed to not exist." Doctor Reinheart said. "Phoenix wings were only ever seen once and never again after that person vanished. They were called Phoenix wings not because of what is believed to be myth but just the fact that they were burning wings. The part about rebirth is just a hypothesis also."
Emily nodded at everything being said, taking in all the information.
"As for you, Jakub was it? My hypothesis for white was that you could reflect any incoming soul mana. With white being the reflection of light and color." He said.
"I'm not sure if I consider it to be reflective but I definitely do something with it." Jakub replied.
They spoke for a little bit about what had happened up to this point with their abilities and showed him Emily's wings and regeneration that she hadn't even seen since taking it from Dreg. Light stuck out her metal hand near Jakub and he absorbed it and made metal claws once again. This amazed the doctor that his hypothesis was in fact correct, just based on color assumptions.
"I have much more I want to find out and since you're both new to soul mana, I will teach you. Light and Nicole, you are both welcome also, it wouldn't hurt to learn."
Souls were about to be all they knew for the next few days.
