"I never killed anyone, and I don't know how to fight." I whispered weakly, honestly, feeling a headache coming às soon às I say so.
"What a pure boy, and coming from Husky? He usually brings the worst bunch." He said to the teens around him, all of them laughing with him.
"Then, what do you know?" He looked deep into my eyes while sipping tea, a slight smile on his face.
"I'm very good at doing calculations, besides I never forget what I hear, read and see!." It wasn't a lie. Thinking hard about a few moments ago, I could remember the Noble holding his blade while talking to me, his slight smile in his face as we had a conversation and his hand slowly going down. I disliked his attitude, but I couldn't tear down all pretences of face.
Mother used insane amounts of riches to give me the Imperial Mind, evolving all my mind and brain as a whole, though since I woke up in the snow, I don't feel as sharp as before. My body too was much stronger than a normal person's, being able to beat a knight in a contest of strength easily...though I never defeated one in the matches my mother arranged…
[Mind capacities restricted, Body unable to bear its processing power] Oh, that explains something but I don't understand exactly what this 'system' is, some kind of assistance magic or artificial spirit? Mom had something like it in her throne, able to report very precise information in her eyes or towards other people's eyes...but directly to the mind...what a novel thing this is.
"What do you want for your life?" He whispered, looking at my dazed face with a cold one, his hand gripping into something inside his Tuxedo, his arm slightly tensed like that of an archer holding an arrow. A cold intent deep in his eyes.
"I want...I want..." I tried to speak but I couldn't think of anything. What I want for life? Revenge? Discovering what happened with mom and my kingdom? Run away?
I don't know...I simply couldn't think of anything, My mind went blank and I just sitted in the ground.
"Mister...I don't know...I really don't know what I want...I love to study, to read, to learn, to train, to discover...that's all I can remember, that's all that I know..." Tears started to fall from my eyes...I couldn't see anything anymore, my mind was blurry, and my heart was hurting immensely. I felt weak, empty, shallow...What am I besides The Son of A queen? What I'm Besides a Lost Child that likes to study? I know a lot about the world, but I never felt anything about it...My whole life was in a cage.
"Hey! This boy seems pretty okay to me! Can you please pass him, pretty please?" A girl got on her knees and hugged me, patting my head as she talked.
"Pitiful guy, but what can we do with a book-eater smart guy?? is not like we need one….maybe he can find work on the market, dunno." A boy's voice echoed from the back, lacking any sympathy whatsoever.
"Well, it's not like there's nothing he can do, maybe we can give him a logistics job? Don't you hate to deal with all the numbers and client information Cain?" Another girl said coldly, but even when her voice was indifferent and colder than the slow I almost froze to death, what she said made my heart warm.
"Huuumm...I do hate having to search all the time for client information, especially when I desperately need so, is like some gnome took the info and sent it to the Void just to mess with me." he sipped again in his tea, an expression of annoyance in his face.
"Well boy, I will give you a chance, Julia, separate 20 books of client information, the heaviest ones." I cleaned my tears, and as I was doing so I saw the girl hugging me.
Soft hair with the brown color of autumn leaves, slightly tan skin color and deep green eyes. Her dress was black and green, giving her a fresh feeling of a refined lady, undeveloped body and small stature, a soft smile and light movements. She stopped to hug me and went deep into the library. "I will be right back."
"Well, seems like a deadweight to me" The apathetic guy in the back whispered and went away, going deep into the library and going down some stairs.
Pak! Out of nowhere books fell in front of me. "Here it goes!" I heard a whisper behind me, Julia was there, smiling innocently.
I pick one book from the black and red carpet, opening it there was extremely detailed information about a man…
Maurice - Merchant- 68 years old - married
Lives in the Ponto Street, in a fancy looking white house, has 10 maids, 5 servants and 15 bodyguards. Works openly in the Weaponry Market, selling high quality cold weapons. Under the curtains works with slavery, organ trafficing, human and non human trafficing and 'Funny potions' (normal potions with addicting components mixed in.) He mainly likes….
And so on, I focused on reading. Many people's stories started to unfold before my eyes.
Nobles, Marchants, Killers, Bodyguards, spies, prostitutes, mages, warriors
War prisoners, spys, Maidens…
There were those that were living like me and mom in the past, pure luxury and peace, doing nothing but commanding from behind the lines, administering from their cabinets, and going to fancy ballads.
While others could be at death's breach as I was reading their information. "What I want for life?" I whispered calmly...trying to find someone that I could relate too.
I finished the books, But didn't find someone to inspire me.
"Oh? in 10 minutes you already finished? It almost seemed like you were skipping pages" He looked at me with a smirk, a slight irritation in his eyes.
"I remember everything." I said decisively, His face getting amazed and filled with disbelief.
"What's Neri Neri's favorite food?" He asked, drinking tea.
"White, fresh and clean woman. Seasoned with white pepper and grounded Qik." A feeling of disgust filled my mind, often I don't think too much about something when I read and see it, as I can always go and remember it later, but when I remember it over and over...often is too much detail and it makes me sick.
"What's Maurice's illegal activities?" He started to ask question after question about the clients in the books, and I answered them perfectly.
"oh shit. you actually remember everything...even though I don't feel any Mana coming from you.." He said in awe, the books in front of me burning into ash in a blink.
"From now on you work for me, also the info you read is classified so I won't allow you to live with Husky, you will sleep in the lower levels with Julia, Julia take him to your bedroom!" He said without hesitation...I would live together with a woman just like that.
'Friend advice, don't try anything funny. Julia may be a cutie but she has the nickname of 'BallBreaker' here in the Library.' A whisper sounded in my head, it was from the apathetic guy from earlier. 'Thanks' I said with my mind, hoping he would hear me.
"Come here, I won't bite ya."Julia who was sitting on a table with some biscuits and tea called me,grabbed my hand and dragged me to the end of the library.
"How come no one besides me got inside?" I asked curiously, wondering how such a Library was soo empty.
"Husky notified us in advance, so we 'closed' the library. Only someone with a letter could come inside." She crossed her fingers in mine, making me feel quite shy, but I was no little boy to get all red over this. I just acted dense as if I didn't notice anything.
"Come with me." She let go of my hand and pressed a part of the wall, spiral stairs started to unfold before me. "Remember this spot, and one thing: with clients around you should never open the stairs." She smiled softly while saying so, going down with soft steps. "There's other ways to come here by the way, at least five outside and three inside the Library, We will teach you as you live here." After the stairs there was a long, narrow hallway with doors on both sides, I couldn't see it's end at it was very dark down here, I followed her until she stopped at door number 6. "Please, come in, don't be shy." She opens the door and goes inside.
The bedroom was medium sized, with a queen size bed in the center, a closet with a mirror to the left, a few red vines with wihite flowers growing in the walls and a small table with two chairs just to the right. It had a soft smell of jasmine.
But I'm very hungry to be honest, Thirsty too. Since I woke up I didn't have anything to eat or drink so I was way more interested in where the kitchen was.
"There's anything to eat and drink here?, i'm starving." I ask her as soon as I get inside. I didn't want to be soo direct but I couldn't avoid it. I was too hungry...now that my mind wasn't worried of having a place to stay, I started to feel how bad I actually was.
"Oh, If you asked for only something to eat, I would have taken it the wrong way." She smiled again with a light giggle, I couldn't understand why she was so flirtatious with me, but I wasn't in the mood for such stuff.
"Really Julia, can you please stop a little, this is not a good moment for this." I sitted in a chair, saying honestly with a sad face.
I was tired, There was too much in my head to process.
"...I thought you were a shy boy or a dense pretty face with pure innocence....well, well.." Her tone changed instantaneously, and pressing a part of the wall close to her bed, a repartition opened. She took a meat pie slice, some juice and a small muffin and put them on the table. "there where the food is, they put different things everyday. you get 3 meals a day, unless you don't work." She laid on her bed.
I started to eat, not giving her any attention at all "Is not like my mother never teached me this kind of stuff you know..." I said while eating the meat pie, how could she treat me as a little boy! Oi! I'm not a little boy!
the food I was eating was not even close to good as the food I was used to eating in the castle, but it was extremely delicious. Like a bomb exploding in my mind. I smiled, almost choking in the juice.
"Poor guy..." She whispered looking at me, slowly relaxing her body and closed her eyes.
"thank you for the meal." I thank her but she was already sleeping, I was tired too but I didn't want to sleep in the ground, so I picked one of her pillows and made it a barrier between me and her.
"Don't get me wrong, I just want to sleep well." I said as I closed my eyes...slowly falling into sleep.
[Starting training: "In my left eye, hundreds of words ceased to be."]
The world changed before me, I was in the middle of a black space, with some shining dots all around me glittering like stars.
[Feel the divinity of the Stars] A whisper echoed in my mind, and the world started to spin around me.
I started to feel scared, a crushing pain over my whole body.
