"Hey wait up"
Liz quickly caught up to Leo who was studying the map as he walked.
"where to first?"
The map was pretty straightforward having only the main buildings on it. Leo pointed to a spot on the map not too far from them.
"The student registration building"
The building Leo chose was pretty important for new students as it provided them there dorm rooms, schedules, and such.
putting the map away Leo looked around at his surroundings. All around him were trees as tall as skyscrapers.
" A pretty dense forest for an academy don't you think?"
An odd silence followed. Leo turned to Liz to see her deep in thought. Which Leo found strange considering how little she seems to think daily.
As if feeling his gaze she glanced at him.
"Hey, what do you think your equalizer will be like?"
Liz paused for a second before continuing.
"I personally hope the person I get paired with is someone fun. It will be a massive change for you"
Leo looked at her for a while in silence.
"I don't really care how the person I get paired with acts, we're going to be partners anyway we will get used to each other."
Leo and Liz both went silent and continued their walk. before Leo's face darkened and he paused and looked at Liz again.
"Did you just take a shot at me?"
Liz laughed and skipped away from Leo.
The academy was deceptively larger than it seemed. While the map wasn't making it any better. The so-called close building took them 20 minutes to walk to. Worst of all they couldn't even use their movement devices as none of their electronics seem to work anymore. But after a long while they arrived.
The student registration building wasn't grand by any means it was just one story and looked like a plain wooden hut. There was a short line leading out of the building currently as everyone waited patiently for their turn to get their required materials. As more people trickled into the area the line grew longer and longer till it was long enough to wrap around the building thrice. Since Liz and Leo got there pretty early the wait wasn't to bad, it took around 10 minutes.
"next"
the receptionist called for the next person in line again and finally, Leo and Liz were at the front of the line. It wasn't too long before the receptionist called for the next person again and Liz disappeared into the building after someone else exited. The building seemed to fit more than 1 person at a time seeing as the person who left wasn't the same person who entered before Liz.
And moments later Leo was called into the building himself. Inside the interior was cozy, with a few paintings of famous battles and soft music playing in the background. There were 4 desks up front and Liz was currently at one of them talking to the guy at the table.
Leo went to the empty table and sat down in front of another guy. Who wasted no time getting started.
" I'm Ernest your registration guide, what's your name, and class."
The questions asked were nothing complicated just general information to make sure you're placed in the right area. And it wasn't long before Leo was giving his dorm key and schedule. Leo was asked to hand over his comm watch and it was put into a small box with his name on it and taken away by a different person to what he could only assume was a storage to keep them till they graduated. He was handed a new comm watch and then sent on his way.
When Leo exited the building he found Liz waiting for him not to far from the doors.
"what dorm did you get assigned to?"
Leo looked at his dorm key which had the information displayed on it.
"South dorm 4, how about you?"
"north dorm 1, those two are on completely different sides of the academy."
The academy didn't separate boys and girls but they did separate them by classes with carriers being in the north side of the academy and battleships being in the south.
Liz sighed
"I had hoped we would be closer but I guess not, but let's at least try to see each other every week"
Leo nodded not really caring to much.
"Oh ya, I need to get your new comm number"
Since they did get new comms they would have to input contact numbers in again. this was done so that they would be cut off from the outside world to prevent any spies and such.
they shared information and explored the academy for a while. They didn't get to see much as the academy was just that large and they soon went their separate ways for the night. Tomorrow they get to meet their equalizers and having a good relationship is vital for there strength in combat.
