Chereads / Blood Blossom / Chapter 2 - Awakening

Chapter 2 - Awakening

I had never, in my whole life... well exactly speaking, fifteen years and three hundred and sixty four days though that on the night of my sixteenth birthday, something so bizarre would happen to me.

That morning, I had woken up and as usual had started to get ready to go off to school.

I got dressed and calmly went downstairs to eat my breakfast with my mother and father.

"Good morning, mom."

"Oh, a very good morning, darling. Did you sleep well? ", asked she while setting some side dishes on the dining table.

" Yes, mom. I slept well.", I replied as I sat down after setting my bag on the chair next to mine.

You know, I was never a cereal person. I always ate the same amount of food in breakfast as I ate for my dinner. And this led to my mom cooking full meals for me in the early morning. On the other hand, my dad only had a small Americano in the morning.

I finished my meal and immediately went to school

after giving my mom and dad a goodbye kiss.

I did not want to be late, not because I was an honor or disciplined student but just because I did not want to catch the attentions of others.

Well... you see, I was what you would call an ambivert or an extroverted introvert.

I did occasionally like to set foot outside my house on my own will but only to a limited extent.

Talking to people for long periods of time drained me.

My school was not near to my home, so I had to take the bus.

As I reached my class, I sat down on the seat at the back and spent my day as usual taking notes, talking to my friends occasionally and leaving once the school was over.

The only exception to my normal average day was that it was my birthday tomorrow!

I couldn't believe that I was going to be sixteen!!

But even though it was going to be a special day tomorrow, I had to spend the whole night studying as exams were coming up!!!

(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

Anyways, I sat on my study table with some music and switched on my table lamp when it became too dark.

I had been reviewing the study material for hours now and as I glanced at the clock to check the time, it was 11:59 p.m.!

"Oh my gosh! Only one minute left for my birthday!!"

I stared at the clock waiting for it to turn twelve.

Tick Tock...

Tick Tock...

Tick Tock...

12:00 a.m.

"Ugh!?"

As soon as the clock struck twelve, I felt a sudden heat spreading inside my body and it felt like my blood was boiling!!! I slumped and eventually fell down from my chair, sweating and panting.

"..."

I wanted to shout, so that mom and dad could be notified about my condition but not even a sound would come out of my mouth!

I couldn't shout, I couldn't move...

All I could do at that moment was lay on the ground wishing that the pain would go away on its own but as time went on, the pain only grew.

Now I even began to have difficulty breathing.

"Aah... is this how i die? I haven't even tried the new limited edition matcha drink that comes out in a few days..."

In that exact moment, I felt a slight breeze on my sweaty face.

"I left the window open..?", I thought while tightening my hands.

As I looked at the window by moving my eyeballs, my eyes widened as I saw a person in black long coat come in from the window frame.

My sight was blurry so I could not see that person's face but as he came closer and held me in his arms, I was certainly shocked because he had blonde hair, yellow eyes and the palest skin I had ever seen!

But this was not the time to get swayed by someone's visuals!!

"Ugh!!"

I let out a sound in pain as it was becoming unbearable now. My expressions became grim as the unknown person picked me up in a princess carry without even saying a word.

" What the heck!? Am I getting kidnapped!? I can't even scream right now!!! Talk about bad timing!"

The man's embrace felt gentle but hard at the same time and instead of warm, it was cold. It felt good actually, that coolness on my burning body.

The man quickly rushed out to the same window through which he had just come in from.

" He's not thinking of jumping, right? Its the first floor!!"

Well at that moment, that did not matter to me as much as I think it would have, now that I think about it.

"You will be okay in a bit.", the unfamiliar man said in a serious and reassuring voice.

As I heard those words, I surprisingly felt like I was actually going to be okay.

But it was just so painful!!!! As if all of the cells of my body has just decided to burst!

"Please wait just a little bit.", said the man again but with a little anxiety in his voice this time.
