Lea's body scan was complete, and when Dwyl saw what was wrong with her he had the strong urge to kill someone.
It seemed that Mason had used the very first prototype of the device that could counteract the hypnotization and indoctrination program on Lea. This prototype still had a lot of flaws, and it would take another couple of years before it was perfected. In the original plot The Criminals had used the device on an arbitrary civilian who turned himself in to the police station where Darian Davis worked. It wasn't mentioned in the plot what kind of transgression the civilian had committed, but it had convinced the underground organization that this person could be an ally.
Anyway, when The Criminals tested out the prototype it became clear that although the person was now able to break the rules without punishing themselves the way they used to, they instead became ho*ny to the point where they would enter a state of delirium if their desires weren't quenched. This was a huge problem, since the civilian was always breaking the law because he kept the existence of the organization a secret. The test subject was thus always in a lustful state, which made it very hard for him to live a normal life. The only way to keep his desires a little bit under control was to continuously use some s*xtoys – which fortunately weren't prohibited.
Dwyl got a headache when he received this information. Why did those annoying Criminals decide to use this prototype on Kailey? Who thought this was a good idea? It was Mason, wasn't it? It could be no one else, since he was the only Criminal that came in contact with Lea while she was here. Why did this have to happen?
Mason kneeled down next to Kailey and took her in his arms. She was burning up! He needed to do something. This was probably one of the side effects caused by the prototype. What if she died because of that? Mason didn't want that! He needed to make her better, he just didn't know how.
Dwyl watched with dead eyes how Mason was clumsily fussing over Lea. He appeared really worried. Why couldn't Mason look at him like that? Life was so unfair.
"Untie her, you idiot," Dwyl said finally. It was too discomforting to watch this display of useless affection.
Dwyl went over to them, and carefully began to undo the ropes that were firmly wound around Lea's hand and feet. If you want something done right and fast, you have to do it yourself.
Mason gawked at William with open mouth. Was this guy really William? He was acting to kind! You'd never guess he'd order someone's execution because they'd served his tea to hot.
"Don't just stare at me and tell me what you did to her." Dwyl might already know what had happened, but he couldn't just say it outright. He was already in hot water.
"I didn't do anything," Mason said stubbornly. William was an elite, his enemy! He wouldn't tell him the truth even in a thousand years.
Dwyl sighed. Why did Mason have to make it so hard for him? "You did. You kidnapped Kailey, and did something to make her like this. This morning she was perfectly fine, and besides if you didn't do anything she would be screaming murder right now. Kailey, unlike you, is a normal person who is required to follow the law. I didn't make an exception for her. So you should explain to me why she's breaking the law."
"Even if I did do something, I wouldn't tell you."
"Well, I can't help Kailey if I don't know what's wrong with her!" William screamed frustrated. This wasn't getting him anywhere. He needed to take Kailey to his room. He had some toys there that he could use on her. That was a better option than letting Mason take care of her. Dwyl did not want that to happen again.
"Why would you even want to help her? Are you in love with her or something?" Mason asked guardedly. He really needed an answer to this question. It felt like his life depended on it.
Dwyl wanted to hit Mason on the head. How stupid could a person be? Lea had clearly told Mason he wanted to go on a date with him, and he had told Mason barely a minute ago that he had purposively kept Mason's identity a secret! Wasn't it obvious who he was in love with?
"Kailey is my friend. F. R. I. E. N. D. Nothing more." It was absolutely ridiculous to assume anything else. Calling Lea his friend was already a stretch. She was his host, someone he didn't even choose himself because he had no other choice.
This answer put Mason's mind a little bit at ease, but he wasn't convinced completely. "People don't need to kidnap their friends to be with them."
Dwyl had finished disentangling the ropes. He let out a big sigh, and looked Mason straight in the eye while he said: "Can we keep this discussion for another time? Don't you see Kailey is suffering? We need to bring her to my room, and call a doctor." For someone who supposedly cared about Lea, Mason was being quite carefree about this entire situation.
"You can't call a doctor," Mason suddenly said. The doctor might be able to figure out what he did to her, and if the doctor knew, the president knew, and if the president knew they could forget their revolution. Mason didn't want anything bad to happen to Kailey, but his priorities hadn't changed. Revolution first, Kailey second. It was already a miracle Kailey had made it up to the list of priorities, considering Mason barely knew her a day.
"Why not? Do you want her to die?"
"No, but I don't trust you!"
Kailey abruptly grabbed Mason's shirt, and mumbled something. Mason who was very busy thinking about what to do next looked down at the hand that firmly clutched his shirt. Kailey was sweating. He could feel the clamminess through his shirt.
Lea was dreaming. She dreamt that instead of throwing William of off him, Mason had somehow put Dwyl next to her on the bed and was leaning over the both of them. William and Mason had started kissing, and she had a front row seat to the show. It was a very erotic sight, but her body was craving to be stroked. She wanted to be touched too, just watching was not satisfying enough. Just when she was thinking this the both of them turned towards her and started kissing her all over her body. She was enjoying it, but there was something missing. The fire inside of her wasn't dimming down in the least, if anything her desire was just getting bigger and bigger. She felt like she was going to explode. Why couldn't she just find release? It was like she wasn't being touched at all.
Mason and Dwyl were watching her squirm. She looked really uncomfortable.
"You have a weapon in this room, right?" Dwyl seemed to ask out of nowhere.
Mason swiftly lifted his head up. "Why? Do you plan to kill me with it?"
"No, I was thinking you should keep it by your side while I carry Kailey to my room. It will put your mind at ease knowing you can kill me any second if I try something weird. I'd rather you'd just trust me, but that seems to be impossible and we don't have time to keep arguing like this."
Mason scanned William's expression, but he couldn't find anything wrong with it. He seemed honest, and it wasn't like he could come up with a better idea.
"Are you sure you can handle carrying her all the way to your room, though?" Mason had never seen William do any kind of manual labor, and looking at his torso he didn't have much muscle either.
William stared daggers at Mason. "Of course I can. Kailey probably isn't that heavy."
"Fine, we'll bring her to your room, but no doctors."
Dwyl nodded. He didn't need a doctor anyway. He already knew how to temporarily solve Lea's predicament.
