Chapter 14 - 2.5

Dwyl and Lea were sitting in a white limousine. One bodyguard sat in front, next to the driver and the rest were following in separate cars. Thanks to sound proof glass Dwyl and Lea had complete privacy.

[Can I talk to normally? It's so stupid to use telepathy when you're right in front of me.]

[Dwyl: Technically I shouldn't allow that, since it would mean breaking character, but I find it annoying as well, so sure. We don't have to pretend when we're alone and there isn't a possibility of being overheard.]

[This isn't a trick to ignore my wishes?]

"No, it's not, Lea. Tricking my own host wouldn't be very nice of me," Dwyl crossed his legs, laid back in his seat and looked at Lea like she was dumb. One of his blond locks fell in front of his eye, giving him a languid charm. "You should trust me more. Didn't I help you get rid of Liam?"

Lea rubbed her eyes. She must be going mad with hunger to think Dwyl looked a bit sexy. This was that cute black and white furbal she reminded herself. He wasn't even human. She shouldn't look at it with perverted eyes.

"You may have helped me now, but you also keep digging pits for me. You could have just put me in a body that wasn't married." Lea crossed her arms and looked out the window. It was better not to look at Dwyl at all. Out of sight is out of mind.

"You didn't specify that your body had to be single. In the next world you should be more precise." Dwyl felt a headache coming on. He didn't do anything wrong! Lea was being really unreasonable and now it seemed this abnormal host was attracted to William's body. Dwyl didn't want to be in that kind of relationship with Lea. It's heart already belonged to someone else, even if it wasn't mutual.

"More precise, I can do that." Lea nodded to herself. "I'll take my time to think about it, so that the next world will be awesome."

"This world already is great," Dwyl said. "Don't you notice the limo we're in? I'm living the high life." Dwyl gestured to their surroundings. The seats they were sitting on were made out of the finest leather and there even was a topnotch mini-fridge, bar and surround sound music boxes. What more could a person want? Well, Dwyl knew there were worlds out there with better equipment and more innovating technologies, but this was enough for now.

"Great for you!" Lea snorted. "Your word is law here. I'm just a poor citizen forced into marriage, without even getting a honeymoon! I'll literally starve to death for even thinking about committing something not allowed by the law."

"Stop nagging. You're divorced. Be grateful. About those other things; just be good and you won't be punished. How hard can that be?" Dwyl had already helped Lea a lot. He shouldn't give her everything on a silver plate, especially when she didn't even think of thanking him properly.

"Hard, because I'm thinking of strangling you," Lea said stubbornly. If Dwyl's word was law he also has the ability to exempt her from it. The fact that Dwyl didn't do that, made her a bit angry.

"Then you deserve what you get. I helped you, and you can't even say thank you."

Lea glanced at Dwyl. It was pouting. This softened her heart. Who could stay angry after looking at such a handsome man acting cute? Lea wasn't made of stone, even if Dwyl didn't help her completely it was true that without him she would be in a troublesome situation. "Thank you. I didn't mean to be ungrateful. It's hard to think straight with a painfully empty stomach."

"Oh, do you want something to drink? There is water, lemonade and all kinds of alcohol in the fridge. We even have some tasty snacks, although I suggest you wait with that. My personal chef is fantastic and it would be a shame to spoil his food with eating something beforehand."

"Water, please and maybe just one small bag of salty chips. I really can't wait any longer."

"Coming right up! We have different kinds of water, do you have a preference?"

"Just give something!" Who cared about the brand? She just wanted to drink.

"I was only asking, no need to yell." Dwyl took the bottle that was closest to him and give it to Lea.

She gulped it down in a few seconds and started coughing heavily.

"Don't drink so fast, you'll choke," Dwyl said belatedly.

"You should have said so sooner!"

"I didn't know you lacked common sense." He shrugged.

Lea glared at Dwyl. Why does it have something against her? She felt like such a pitiful person. "So, where are we going exactly?"

"To one of my homes. The chef has already started preparing. We'll arrive in about half an hour."

Lea's eyes twitched at the sentence. "One of your homes?"

"Yes, William's got a mansion in every city. Marvelous, isn't it?"

"That's absolutely unnecessary."

"You can't expect me to stay in a hotel with lowly civilians." Dwyl's face scrunched up at the thought.

"Is that you talking or William?" Lea asked cautiously. She really hoped it was the latter.

Dwyl shrugged. "Doesn't matter. As of now, I'm both myself and William. There is no separation."

***

William's mansion stood apart from all other houses. It was standing out like a sore thumb. The other villa's were basically the same, grey and white, with a roof of the same height, a small drive in and a barely noticeable patch of grass. William's mansion had a very long driveway and a huge front garden full of colorful flowers. The building was two times as high as the rest of the villa's. And if that wasn't attention grabbing enough, it was painted in a very bright green.

"You sure love green," Kailey said while leaving the car.

"I do. It suits my appearance, and I like people seeing green of jealousy." William said with a smug look on his face.

"You could have just said it reminds you of nature."

"You say the most ridiculous things. I hate nature; insects, vermin, uncleanness and the fact that nature is harder to control than people. I don't like that. Everything should do as I say, and if it doesn't it must be exterminated."

Lea didn't support this superficial vision. "Without nature you can't live. You should honor it."

Dwyl didn't listen. "Let's go inside and eat."

Lea dropped it, in this world people were already very good to the environment since it was in the law to be sustainable. Climate change was also under control. As long as the elite didn't abolish this law everything should be fine. Only a hundred people worldwide who lived lavishly, shouldn't cause to much damage. Besides, even if it did, this wasn't Lea's world anyway. She was only a visitor.

The inside of the house was also tinted with green. Emerald colored couches, Jade vases, and all other tints are spread against a white background. It was preposterous, but impressive.

"Are all you're houses like this?"

"What do you mean? Stylish? All of them."

"I meant, with only green furniture."

Dwyl had to think for a second. "Most of them." William removed his jacket and threw it to the ground. Immediately a maid picked it up and put it in the right place.

Lea also removed her jacket, but unlike Dwyl she didn't dare just throw it. Hesitatingly she looked at the maids that were standing in the corners of the room. Did she need to give it to them or should she just hang it up herself?

Just when she had decided on doing it herself, a maid stepped forward and took it from her hands. "You can give it to me, madam. I'll put it somewhere safe."

"Thank you… What's your name?"

The maid didn't know what to do, it was the first time someone she served had asked for her name. She looked at the other maids and they nodded at her. It would be rude not to answer a direct question. "I am Ta…"

Before the maid could tell her name, William cut her off by speaking to Kailey. "Let's go to the dining room."

He then turned to the maid who was still holding Kailey's jacket. "Is everything set?"

The maid felt ashamed. Of course she wasn't worthy enough to tell her name to someone that was associated with young master Wright. What was she even thinking? "Yes, master. The food will be ready in five minutes,"

"Good." He then turned back to Kailey and guided her to the dining room.

"How many maids does a person need?" Lea wondered, thinking about the maids in almost every corner of the mansion.

"I don't know. I never bothered counting them. Better one to many, then one to little."

The maids who looked at their exchange, were stunned. Even though young master Wright only came to this mansion one time in the past, they had heard rumors he couldn't get along with anybody. It seemed like that was not true, has he maybe finally found love? That had to be it. They should pay a lot of attention in the time that the couple stayed here, so they could inform their colleagues.

The aroma of the food was mouthwatering. There were spring rolls with pork, stewed shrimp with coconut juice, clamp soup and rice. It was delicious, and precisely to Lea's tastes. When Dwyl had said a top chef would be cooking, she felt a bit fearful. She had expected fancy, experimental food with odd combinations that wouldn't feel right to her. Luckily this was perfect. She enjoyed the taste of it and savored every bite.

"Do you find to food appetizing?" William asked after a couple of minutes.

"I do. It is just what I needed. Praises to your chef." Lea said after eating a shrimp. The coconut flavor that was mixed in with it was just divine. She was so glad she could actually eat. It seemed like Dwyl hadn't lied about his word being law.

"It clearly shows your unsophisticated taste buds. Although the dishes might be great according to the standards of amateur chefs, but he could have balanced the flavors a bit better. My chef in the capital can cook way better. I might have to fire this one."

"Don't fire him!" Lea said exasperated. "He is amazing! You're just being picky to look superior."

"I don't expect you to understand," Dwyl responded condescendingly. "Your opinion doesn't matter anyway."

Lea gritted her teeth. Dwyl was such a tyrant! She is the host! Shouldn't it be his opinions that didn't matter? What was with this system that couldn't keep to the most basic rules?

"Fine, if you want to fire him, do it. I can't stop someone who refuses to listen to other people. I just find it unnecessary. It's not like he is your main chef and you have to eat his food every day."

"All my employees should keep up to my standard, even the ones I barely use. I don't pay them too lazy around."

Lea kept on eating. She felt bad for the chef. He clearly had talent, but William was such an a**. She hoped this wouldn't ruin the chef's future.

After there was nothing left on the plates, she started thinking about what would come next. There really wasn't much that she wanted to do in this prisonlike world. She felt a bit restless. "What are we going to do now?"

"Tomorrow we'll go to the capital. I left in quite a hurry to fetch you and I'm certain my father will want an explanation. The longer I stay away, the more angry he'll become. That is a situation I rather want to avoid. Besides, there are lots of fun things to do there. This city is incredibly dull."

"You want me to come with you?" Lea asked. She didn't like where this was going.

"Yes. Better not to separate from each other, you're too dumb to be left alone."

"I don't want to go to the presidential palace!"

"Why not?" Dwyl slanted his head. "It's an honor."

Lea glanced at all the maids in the room. She couldn't say it out loud. [The main character is your butler! I told you I want nothing to do with the plot.]

[You're still going on about that? The revolution is still five years away, I don't see what there is to be afraid of.]

Lea knew Dwyl was right. There really wasn't anything to be afraid of. Following Dwyl to the capital would guarantee she'd be spending the next five years in luxury, while if she separated she would have to work in that mind-numbing office for the rest of her stay and she didn't want that. She was a transmigrator! She should be looking for adventure and not running away from it. It was time for her to get out of her comfort zone and have the time of her life. She hadn't explored the previous world, she couldn't let that happen a second time. What better place to start than at the presidential palace?

"You are right. It is an honor. I gladly accept your invitation."

William smiled. "Good girl. You won't regret it."
