Chapter 13 - 2.4

"We are not expecting anyone, right?" Lea asked pretending to be surprised by someone visiting.

"I don't think so, no." Liam swiftly put his t-shirt back on. "Maybe it's the Marriage Counselor, but they're only supposed to come after we've been married for a week."

"Then who could it be?" Kailey wondered.

"Let's open the door and find out." Liam left the bedroom decisively. If it wasn't the Marital Duties department, he would send them away as fast as possible. Liam felt like this was the worst day of his life. He was hungry, thirsty, made a fool of himself at work and right when he was getting down to business with his wife, somebody had to just ring the f**cking bell. It couldn't possibly become any worse, he thought.

Lea followed after Liam, who quickly opened the front door. She was surprised to see four persons standing there, with a handsome young man in the middle. He had wavy blond hair, green eyes and a youthful look. He wore a stylish outfit, that fit his body perfectly, with tints of green complementing his eyes. But instead of focusing on that, the thing that drew Lea's eyes was actually the brooch pinned on his fancy vest. It depicted the symbol of the president's family.

[Couldn't you have picked a body a little bit more low key?] Lea complained to Dwyl in her mind.

[Dwyl: I don't want to be low key, that's boring.]

Liam stiffened when he saw the entourage standing in front of his humble home. Why was the president's son, William Wright, here? He almost pissed his pants out of fear. Liam cursed the him from a few seconds ago, didn't he know that things could always become worse?

"Hello," a happy voice chirped. "Does Kailey King live here?" William's voice was very pleasant on the ears; smooth and syrupy. His smile was radiant and his green eyes glistened with mischievousness.

Liam looked sideways at Kailey. How did his wife get involved with someone this high up? He hoped she didn't do anything that might put him in trouble.

"Yes, that's me," Lea answered coldly. She wasn't at all happy with Dwyl's identity. This system made her life harder. Lea just wanted to live under the radar, but now that the president's son stood in front of her house that was impossible! Sigh, she could've known when Dwyl said it was in the body of an elite. This country didn't have a lot of those, actually the only elites were the president's family. They were after all the only ones exempted from the indoctrination and hypnotization program. The only other elites are the rulers and their family's from other countries.

This cold reaction wasn't well received with William's bodyguards. They knew their young master only seemed innocent, but his temper was well known. This woman obviously didn't value her life. With one word from young master Wright they would shoot her down right now without mercy. The president's family word is law after all. They were ready to use their guns.

"Great! You probably already know, but I'm William." Dwyl extended his hand toward Lea, ignoring her disrespectful tone.

The four bodyguards that were with him hadn't expected their young master to react like this. Not only did he not pay attention to this woman's tone, but he also initiated a handshake! He never did that, not unless it was someone the president deemed important and even then he only shook hands after his people had extensively searched the person in question and disinfected their hands. He did that not because he was afraid of an assassination attempt, or because he had a fear of contamination, but because he looked down on people below him in rank and wanted to show them his power. The fact that he willingly and without any of his usual antics extended his hand, meant this woman must be very important to him! Was she maybe his lover? But, young master Wright never left their sights, he couldn't have had a relationship behind their backs. So, the question remained; who was this Kailey King?

Lea shook his hand without hesitation. "Yes, I know, you're William Wright. Nice to meet you."

The bodyguards, even though still clueless as to the nature of the relationship between William Wright and Kailey King had already made their judgement, and thus overlooked her attitude so long as their young master kept treating her like this.

Liam on the other hand was still utterly shocked and had no idea what was going on. He just couldn't get a grip on the situation. How could Kailey be so casual with the president's son? He had to intervene immediately, or she might get them both killed!

He coughed, so the attention would focus on him. "Sir, we are honored with your visit, but – excuse my impertinence – may I ask what you need from my wife?"

William narrowed his eyes at this man who butted in his conversation without apparent reason. "I don't see how that is any of your business. Leave now, or face the consequences."

Liam swallowed a lump in his throat. He didn't dare say anything more, but where can he go? This is his home! Panicked he looked at Kailey, hoping she could help him out.

Lea rolled her eyes. Typical, first being all 'I'm going to get us out of this difficult situation' and then being 'Oh, no, I messed up! Somebody help me!' She never even asked for his help. Sigh.

[You should be a little nicer to Liam.]

[Dwyl: Why? Do you want to keep him?]

[Not really. He is a bad kisser.]

[Dwyl: Then I'll get rid of him!]

[…]

[You are not going to kill him, right?] Lea wasn't that greatly attached to Liam, but the thought of someone harming him was not really pleasant. She had given him her first kiss after all.

[Dwyl: It's a secret.]

[I'm against murder.] Lea felt obligated to state this. She may have read a lot of quick transmigration were revenge and cannon fodder killings were frequent, but that didn't mean she would support such a thing in real life. She had conscience, no matter how messed up it may have become since she started reading yaoi.

[Dwyl: You do realize that if the previous world wasn't deleted, your actions would have led to a world destruction ending? You would have been personally responsible for killing all living beings and most gods. Don't be a hypocrite.]

[That… that didn't happen and I'm not going to degrade myself to becoming an accomplice to murder.]

[Dwyl: We'll see how long that attitude will last. A good host should be able to play all kinds of characters, even serial killers. I'll make sure to educate you.]

Lea felt chills all over her body. Dwyl sounded dead serious. She feared that by the end of this quick transmigration adventure, she'll be a changed person and not necessarily for the better. What would become of her? She knew that what Dwyl said made sense, you can't play a proper villain without getting your hands dirty and you can't face slap someone if you're not willing to do what it takes. But then again, why should she do things she thought crossed a line? Just because murder was a pretty normal thing in quick transmigration novels, didn't mean she had to follow their example. She could do whatever she liked and if that included being a good person who put her line at murdering someone, than she should keep to those principles, no matter how hard it would become thanks to a certain system.

"Why are you still standing here?" William asked Liam annoyed. He tapped his finger on his arm and his face was scrunched up in dissatisfaction. "Didn't I tell you to leave? Guards, please escort this man from the building."

On Dwyl's signal the bodyguards immediately started to move toward Liam. Liam was startled. His first instinct was to run, but that caused him to get an enormous headache. Resisting a direct order was illegal.

Lea quickly stepped in front of Liam protectively. If she let Dwyl's guards take him, who knows what'll happen to him. He was a bad kisser, but that isn't a reason to wish ill on somebody. "Mister Wright, my husband lives here with me. He has nowhere to go if you throw him out."

Liam was touched by Kailey's gesture, but he also cried at her stupidity. He can wait outside until William Wright has left, and just come back later. But now that his wife talked back to this important person, they might really be in trouble.

William held his hand out in front of his bodyguards to stop them from moving. "Fine, he can stay. This buildings cheap air is polluting my longs anyway."

A smile appeared on William's face again and he grabbed Kailey's hand. "You come with me instead."

Lea sighed in relief, she saved Liam's life and can get away from their awkward situation! "Alright."

Liam's face cracked. How could Kailey put him in this position? If he refused an order from the president's order he would probably die, so he can't just tell Kailey to stay at home, but he was still starving, you know?! Without her he would never get to eat! He was dead either way.

"Wait," Liam grabbed Kailey's free hand desperately. "I'm not opposing Kailey coming with you, but we only married yesterday and haven't yet done our marital duties…"

William laughed hearing this. Look at that frantic expression, like his life depends on it. Well, it does, but Dwyl still found it funny. It liked this power of deciding the course of someone's life. "Sorry, buddy. Not going to happen. I pronounce you now divorced! Go find another wife to bang."

After saying this he gave his guards a signal and they separated a speechless Liam from Kailey.

[Can you do that? Divorcing us, just by saying it, I mean?]

[Dwyl: Of course! I didn't choose this body for nothing. My word is law, literally.]

Maybe Dwyl being the president's son wasn't so bad. It wasn't low-key, but it had its perks. [If that is the case; I want to go to a restaurant!]

[Dwyl: I know something way better.]

They stepped into the elevator and went downstairs. It was finally time for Lea's empty stomach to be filled.
