After minutes of trying, Ruth finally noticed Edwin's little finger of his left hand twitching. Hope spurt in her chest, and she tried to wake him up more desperately.
"Edwin please open your eyes. Edwin!"
A low grumble rocked his chest before his thick brows creased lightly. He coughed loudly. His face scrunched up in discomfort before his eyes slowly fluttered open.
It took him some moments to clear his vision. And when it cleared, Ruth's face appeared in front of him, looking down at him with so much worry and also relief.
She smiled, blinking back her tears and called his name again. Edwin pushed himself to sit up, and the next thing he knew was Ruth's hands around his neck.
She hugged him tightly, letting go of her self-control. She didn't need to hold back anymore now that he was right here.
But the relief on Rees's face washed away when he noticed Edwin's limp hands to his sides. He wasn't hugging Ruth back.
It was strange! Too strange!
