The dawn broke out at the horizon, and the seabirds flew in the sky to get their early morning meal. Ruth stirred in sleep, feeling the ache in her muscles though she knew many of her wounds must be healed by now.
She stretched her hands over her head and yawned, shaking off all the fatigue from yesterday's training.
She wondered what Edwin would make them do today.
She turned in the bed to see his place empty and cold. Maybe he had woken up quite early. Ruth propped herself on her elbows and scanned the small room.
There were no clothes placed ready to wear after the shower. So did he already showered?
She didn't hear any sounds coming from the bathroom either.
She dragged herself out of the bed, and her bare feet touched the coldness of the wooden floor of the ship.
She stood up before walking to the mirror. She stared at her reflection in it. She had gained more tan by spending most of her time under the sunlight.
