Eloise paused as she sensed a maid approaching them from behind her. She didn't need to turn her head to make sure because she could hear her light footsteps and her scent evaded her senses.
The maid served them tea and placed the plates of snacks on the coffee table before straightening up.
"Is there another request My Lady?" She asked politely.
"No. This is it." Eloise dismissed the maid, and the woman walked away.
"I was going for an evening tea anyway. I hope you don't mind me sharing it with you." Eloise smiled as she served some snacks for Mrs Payne.
The old lady laughed, shaking her head. "Of course no Lady Eloise! You are always welcome to have a tea with me."
The two ladies enjoyed their drinks while having a healthy conversation.
"Mrs Payne, why don't you go to either Welby's or Greens'? You share a good bond with both ladies, and they must be missing their children like you miss Ruth.
