Darius and Hilton sat in the same carriage as Darius ordered them to march in the Southeast direction. Hilton was confused as he still had no idea where they were going and what they would do there.
He wondered why Darius was acting so secretive about it. Didn't he trust Hilton?
But then, how could Hilton blame him? He was betrayed by the only woman Darius had ever trusted. Though Darius never mentioned her again, Hilton knew that Lisa was still always on his mind.
She was gone, and her memories may fade with time. But the scar of betrayal that she had left on Darius would never heal. It had changed Darius completely, and now he didn't trust even his own shadow.
If Lisa had stayed by Darius, then Hilton was sure that the next Vampire leader would have made her his queen.
That very thought made Hilton feel disgusted. No matter how much he adored Darius, he couldn't imagine a human ruling his breed and staining their legacy.
