Ruth held her breath after screaming. "Hold tight!"
Thea did as she was told while balancing the bow in her hand. Ruth clenched the metal pole tightly between her fingers as she braced herself for an impact.
As she had guessed, their ship had to turn to the right to avoid a rock ahead, but that made it stuck against the larger one to its right.
The enemy ship was now only a few metres away. The short distance allowed Ruth to take a look at the ship, and the dead pirates on it.
Nothing had prepared her to face the sight she was seeing. Bile rose in Thea's throat as she watched those heinous faces of barbaric men.
Their skin was rotten in places, hair gone, teeth missing, and eyes bulging out disgustingly. Their limbs looked no better than the wooden sticks, and a sane person didn't need to go near them to guess how badly they were stinking.
They looked exactly how Zoe described them- corpses that came to life before their bodies deteriorate completely.
