The time of celebrations came to an end sooner than anyone wished. And the next morning, the sun rose in the sky, bringing the nervousness and the hard-hitting reality of bidding goodbyes.
Early in the morning, Edwin and Ruth went to Mrs Payne's room as she wanted to talk about something with them.
She sat in a chair while the couple took their places on the sofa beside it. Though Mrs Payne played calm, both Ruth and Edwin could tell that it was just a false facade.
Only she knew what was going on inside her mind and heart because only she was aware of the all realities of this near-to-impossible journey and the tasks.
Ruth had the old woman's hand in hers in a firm yet gentle grip.
"It's time, Mrs Payne!" She whispered, smiling softly though her heart ached at the thought of leaving the old woman.
