Augustus sat, staring at the papers Elsie had put on the table for a long time. But Theodora was not as patient as him. She was enraged by Elsie's defiance. She had made sure to keep Augustus away from his daughters.
She assured him to take care of them so that he would not worry and think of bonding with them. Theodora had done many things to weave the fabric of this family to her liking but since that beggar had stepped her foot inside the manor, everything had turned messy and distasteful.
And that was not acceptable to Theodora.
"Are you happy now, Augustus? See what your beloved, shy daughter has turned into! I warned you many times to not spoil her with your affection, but you never listened to me.
You always treated Elsie differently than Eloise? Why? Only because she reminds you of Agatha?"
Theodora scoffed arrogantly. "Your daughter is as naive and can be easily manipulated, just like her mother. What else one could expect from Agatha's daughter?
