Raynold rushed out of Augustus's office, following Edwin to make sure he would not do something stupid in anger, but Lester stayed back because both Elsie and Eloise refused to leave.
Theodora turned to face Augustus with flared nostrils and a red nose tip.
"What is this Augustus? Now he dares to threaten you? Has he forgotten that he hasn't yet done enough to exert that authority?"
Augustus scoffed. "Let him think he can harm me, Theodora. Didn't his father try the same thing? Fate always stands with the one who commands it!"
Elsie was speechless at her father's words. She wondered if the man standing in front of her was indeed her father.
"Father"
Augustus's smug look evaporated in thin air as his shoulders tensed at Elsie's soft call.
With much effort, he slowly turned his head to meet her eyes, but when he saw the hurt and disappointment in them, he gulped audibly, keeping his face stoic.
