Edwin wanted to know more about his father and also about the key they had found. But Lester insisted that Dexter should rest before they make him revisit the past. But the real intention was to give Edwin some time to get a hold of his emotions.
Lester could clearly see how disturbed Edwin was by Dexter's one revelation though it was only a hint than a complete revelation. Edwin wanted to argue, but he got a message that Miss Chang and Mrs Payne wanted to meet him urgently.
He arranged a stay for Dexter in one of the many rooms of 'the great manor' but the man refused politely.
"I cannot stay here, My Lord. I will spend my days and nights on the roadside than staying in this… place."
Edwin could tell that the man held his tongue back for his sake. He could sense how much poison he had in his heart for 'the great manor' but the exact amount of immense respect and love for his parents.
