Three days later, Edwin's office was full of people, including Lester, who insisted on attending this meeting in spite of warnings from the physician and others. Edwin sat in his chair and behind him stood Thea, who surprised everyone with her entry.
She had finally resumed her duty as Edwin's head maid though Edwin asked her to consider her decision and offered her another job that would be lighter in nature. But she refused, saying she wanted to be as close with her leader as possible, winking at Ruth to tease her.
Edwin too was relieved to see her playfulness back. He missed her quirky comments and detailed observations along with her pestering for the things he didn't like to do. And the other reason for his relief was Ruth. Now she had one less thing to worry about.
At Eloise's request, Edwin had allowed Harold to attend this meeting. Though he still didn't completely trust the man with his intentions, he trusted his cousin and Ruth's judgement.
