Ruth was speaking with Elsie and Thea in the old building. They had received Mrs Payne's message that she needed to show them something important.
"She should have been here by now." Thea said, glancing at the entrance of the room where they sat.
"She will come. Her knees are giving her a hard time and she had to work tiredlessly for two days. She must be exhausted." Elsie had just completed her sentence when their heads snapped in the direction of the entrance to see Edwin rushing inside.
He held Ruth's hand and pulled her up to stand on her feet.
"Come with me."
"Edwin? What happened?" Ruth asked in confusion.
Now it was not the first time he had dragged her to the side abruptly, but that was because either he missed her or couldn't control his carnal desires. But this time, she could feel the tension radiating off of him and that worried her.
"Brother, what happened? Is everything alright?"
