The softness of her skin and her warm touch made Lester forget about the distress he felt for some time. He held Elsie's hand tightly in his while she ran her free hand through his hair.
He sprawled on the bed and had his head resting on her lap. She smiled, looking at him in adoration.
"Lester?"
"Hmm?"
"You look tired." She said, only to get no reply.
"Lester?" She called his name again.
"What?"
Elsie's hand stopped in his hair, and the smile was wiped out of her face by his snapping. She looked at him questioningly. He must have realised that and sat up in the bed.
Elsie was taken back by his reaction. Unlike Edwin, Lester was known for always maintaining his cool. She didn't recall a single time when he had snapped at not only her but at anyone else too.
