Every head turned, seeing Ruth walking along with Elsie. Edwin and pale-faced Lester were only two steps behind them. Ruth smiled, looking at the happy faces. It had been a long time since she had seen those smiles and was glad that she was the reason for it.
The chairs were arranged in rows. Today was indeed a special day as today was the last day of Ruth's training. Miss Chang and Mr Welby stood there proudly looking at their student as she walked first to them.
The only thing Ruth didn't like about this day was that it also meant Miss Chang had to leave Vincardine. Ruth requested her to stay, but the mentor only smiled and said she shouldn't.
Sometimes Ruth found it difficult to decipher her words, but she knew better than to argue more. The whole arrangements were for Miss Chang as they wanted to give her a memorable farewell.
It was an informal occasion with no particular memoranda with them. They had planned a breakfast for everyone.
