That night nobody in the O'Dell family could sleep except Eloise, who had passed out hours ago. Another thing that was different tonight was Edwin stayed in his office and away from Ruth.
Ruth kept tossing and turning in the bed, unable to close her eyes for more than five minutes. Giving up on her attempts, she sat up in the bed. Looking outside through the window, she saw the night sky and the moon staring back at her.
She prayed to the Moon Goddess to hear her pleas. If only she had solid proof to prove Theodora guilty. All she had was a conversation she heard between Theodora and Douglas. And if she mentioned that conversation, then more questions might arise that Ruth had no answer for.
Ruth felt uneasy sitting in her chamber, so she decided to take a stroll outside in the fresh air. While passing by Edwin's office, she thought of peeking inside and seeing if he was awake too. But then she decided against it.
