Edwin sat in his office behind his desk about half an hour after Lord Ralph retired to his room. His mind was filled with that man's words and what he requested him to do. The envelope that Lord Ralph had given lay on the table staring back at Edwin, waiting for his mind to make the conclusive decision.
It was not like Edwin would back out from his promise, but he was not sure what that envelope meant and what Lord Ralph wanted from him.
Why would he tell him to open that envelope after his death and not before that? Edwin couldn't understand.
When he couldn't pinpoint the most probable possibility out of numerous, he decided to just trust the time and let it decide the course of his actions.
He took that envelope and placed it securely in his secret locker.
He yawned and stretched his hands above his head. Glancing out at the night sky, he realised it was too late than he had expected. Ruth must be asleep by now.
