The next day, Ruth woke up in Edwin's arms but did not want to get away from him, so she pretended to lay still.
"You do not need to pretend. If you want then you can just ask me to stay." She heard his raspy voice sending tingles to the side of her waist.
"Will you stay then?" She whispered, still not over the last night.
After that kiss and some more of them, they fell asleep in his bed without reaching any conclusions. Ruth still did not know if he was alright with what she told him.
Edwin was about to open his mouth in answer when his eyes suddenly darkened, and he went still staring behind Ruth.
And that was enough clue for Ruth. Even if he wanted to stay, he couldn't!
She waited until Edwin finished his conversation through the mindlink and his eyes turned to their natural colour.
"You can't right?"
He sighed, throwing his head back in the pillow and staring at the ceiling.
"You look tired." Ruth noticed as she looked up at him resting her chin on his chest.
