"That was not the first time we met." Ruth finally revealed what had slipped from her mind.
After coming back to Vincardine when Ruth got to know about the tussle between Edwin and Darius, she was scared to tell that to Edwin. But she couldn't hide it for long, and nor she should.
"What the hell are you saying?" Edwin growled. His hands tightened around her, and she winced in pain.
"P-please listen to me first. Do you remember when we went to meet Miss Chang for the first time in the nearby village? We... stopped in a market and I went to buy a walking stick for Mrs Payne."
"What about that?" His voice was changing into his wolf's.
