For a moment, Ruth felt numb. She did not feel the soreness in her throat after screaming so loudly. She did not feel it when Ida stood up and held her hand, only to drag her away from there.
Her eyes were trained on the lifeless body of the man she called her friend and the monster whose back faced her with a bundle of tissues in his animalistic hand while blood dripped from it in rivulets.
