Ruth was shocked at the ease Darius carried her on his back. She could not hear him panting, nor did he slow down his pace even a bit. By this time, the sky had turned dark, and the owls had begun hooting in the distance.
"Perrito, please stop! I think we have left them far behind." She said, looking around and straining her ears to hear any sound.
He finally slowed down his pace, and after finding shelter near a tree, he placed Ruth on the forest ground gently.
Not only they had managed to find a shelter, but they had also found a small spring nearby. The sound of its flowing water was a melody that soothed Ruth's nerves. She was thirsty anyway.
"I want to drink some water please." She told him, and he again picked her up but in a bridal style.
Ruth was uncomfortable with a stranger touching her so much but then she had no other choice, and he did not try to misbehave with her even once.
So she had no reason to complain too.
