After walking for about an hour, Ruth's legs began trembling under her. She was exhausted and thirsty after such a long walk. At some point during the walk, she fell behind Perrito.
She wondered how could this man walk without panting for so long? He had not even a bead of sweat on his forehead, nor did he look like he had run a marathon.
How?
Ruth was so engrossed in staring at the back of his head that she did not realise stepping on a stone. Her foot lost its grip, and she gasped loudly, finding her body falling forward.
She clutched her eyes close, waiting for the impact of the fall, but that never came. Strong hands held her tight in midair. She slowly opened her eyes to see a pair of dark eyes staring back at her.
And again without any traces of concern or shock!
Something about that man irked Ruth, and yet she found herself warming up towards him. She was not a person who trusted people easily, but with him... something about him made her trust him instantly.
