Thea was following this strange man, who was carrying a bag in his hand. After he opened the door with a key that Lady Theodora possessed, he disappeared into the dark.
Now Thea stood there staring at that opened door. She thought he would close it again behind him, but he did not. He just pushed it so that nobody could notice it was opened in the first place.
Thea now had two options. Either she could run through that same door, prepared to face what was inside, or she could run down and to the exit where that way led. But the problem with the second option was she would need to take a long route then.
What if there was any other secret path inside which led to somewhere else? What if she would be late reaching the exit?
No, she could not take that risk, so she decided to go with the first option. She was scared, to be honest.
