"What are you saying, Fannie?" Theodora thundered as soon as her head maid informed her that Lord Augustus was taking a walk in the garden with Elsie.
Theodora was surprised to hear that. She did not remember the last time the father and the daughter had such a moment for themselves.
Over the years, Theodora had consciously made efforts to keep Augustus isolated from his family, especially her daughters, because she always thought that they might create problems for her child.
Unfortunately, she did not receive that blessing of being a mother again. Yet she continued with her plan or else she would have lost her influence over him.
Theodora was angry. She did not like that Augustus chose to spend time with his daughter than coming to meet her, respecting her request. He was always busy like this. Be it his people, his town or his family. He was always immersed in these and thus could not fulfil Theodora's many wishes.
