"Edwin? Edwin?"
Maya's voice brought Edwin out of his trance. He blinked rapidly, shaken by the reaction of his body toward Ruth.
He laid back on the chair, closing his eyes. Maya felt the sudden change in Edwin's mood. She leaned forward in concern and placed her hand on his chest.
She was taken aback by the rate at which his heart was beating.
With a small frown, she asked again. "Edwin what do you like about Ruth?"
She wanted to know it desperately. She wanted to know why that woman had her clasp so tight around Edwin's heart.
Despite living in two different rooms, Edwin always left for his room after taking Maya to her bed. He sat there until she fell asleep but never stayed there longer, even for a second, once she dozed off to sleep.
And Maya thought it must be because of Ruth.
Once, she followed him after he left her room, only to see him peeking into Ruth's room.
So it was important for her to learn more about what Edwin thought about Ruth.
