Hours were passing slower than every day, or perhaps it was because Ruth was too restless and anxious. She wished at times like this that she was a werewolf. Then she could have known about her mate and could communicate with him.
She stood in front of the mirror in her bathroom, staring at her reflection. The two punctured marks turned brownish black and now stared back at her.
She ran her fingertips over them and felt a slight shiver running over her body. Edwin had marked her. Yes! But that meant she could only feel his extreme emotions.
And so far, she hadn't felt any pain or anger.
She believed it was a good sign and that he must be safe somewhere now.
She checked the time to see they would now take only an hour to reach the place where they suspected Edwin could be.
Ruth splashed some cold water on her face and then dabbed it dry. She took another look at herself in the mirror. She couldn't show her vulnerability and her fears to anyone.
She had learned that from Edwin.
