Marcus exhaled with pursed lips while staring at the letter in his hand. He had his spies sent with Darius and Hilton because he was sure that the two men were planning something, and he wanted to know what it was.
But the letter he received mentioned that the convoy was halted for a couple of days in a city. It also mentioned that there was no improvement in Darius's health, and Hilton seemed quite worried.
There was nothing else written in that letter that could tell Marcus about Darius's plan.
He agreed that the injuries Darius received were fatal. And his state was no surprise when he was attacked with an intention of killing. But something didn't seem right to him. Something wasn't fitting well with him.
Crumbling the letter in his hand, he threw its ball into the hearth in which cheerful fire was burning bright.
