On the day of Ruth's birthday, her friends threw a small party at Welby's family house as Ruth thought it would be inappropriate for them to celebrate her birthday with a bash when the town of Vincardine was still breathing under the gloominess of the death of those one hundred and twenty-nine unfortunate souls.
