Eloise didn't remember how she was rescued from that angry crowd. But as soon as she came back to 'the great manor' along with Elsie and her saviour, she followed the man without his knowledge directly to her father's office.
Harold was more than just furious. His long strides took him to Augustus's office. He pushed open the door and barged through it without asking for Augustus's permission.
"I never thought you would stoop so low, Lord Augustus! How could you? How could you do this?" Harold's naturally deep and loud voice boomed dangerously.
Eloise hid outside her father's office, from where she could hear everything. She didn't understand why Harold was so angry at her father.
But if he was then there must be some reason! She was sure.
Augustus was sitting with Theodora, laughing at something. But as soon as Harold barged into his office, his laugh died.
"Davies! Mind your tone. Don't forget who you are talking with!" Augustus warned.
