Zoe observed the painting carefully to see if she could find anything at first look. When she didn't, she carefully pulled out the painting from the nails that kept it hanging on the wall.
She looked around for a table, but the room lacked any furniture. Sighing in irritation, she sat on the floor and placed that painting on her lap.
She began searching for that painting under the dim light of the lamp. She was busy finishing the task at hand when her ears moved a little.
Her hands froze as she strained her ears even more. She heard some noises around. She immediately put the painting aside and ran to the window that opened into the garden. Sliding the curtain only a little, she looked down through the glass to see Lord Augustus speaking to the guards stationed on the ground floor.
Zoe couldn't hear what exactly they were talking about, but when she caught one of the guards looking up to the window she was in, she knew that it was a danger sign.
